Important:
The FP&A function serves as a strategic partner to the HEMIC Family of Companies by transforming data into actionable insights that support informed business decisions, financial strength, and sustainable growth. This role provides critical analysis related to pricing, reserving, forecasting, and operational performance, helping leaders understand trends, manage risk, and capitalize on opportunities. Through close collaboration with business leaders and the development of analytical tools and dashboards, the position advances HEMIC's data-driven culture and supports the success of existing operations, subsidiaries, and future business initiatives. Essential Duties Extract and analyze HEMIC Family of Companies data to develop and enhance existing forecasting and trend analyses. Effectively communicate performance during the year through presentations and visual dashboards. Prepare HEMIC's annual rate filing process and rate adequacy analyses. Support Underwriting/Sales and provide tier analyses and communicate trends. Ensure timely filings with the Hawaii Insurance Division. Work alongside our Milliman actuaries to analyze HEMIC's loss development and determine the loss reserves to be booked. Be able to answer questions about HEMIC's loss development, as well as question Actuaries' results, if it does not align with HEMIC's internal analysis. Collaborate and develop a strong working relationship with HEMIC's Underwriting and Claims departments to learn about their processes and enable deep research that identifies trends and patterns. Become a subject matter expert in HEMIC's data, data sources and data architecture. Understand how to extract the data needed for analysis and modeling. Build and enhance the HEMIC Family of Companies' analytical dashboards. This includes collaborating and consulting with business leaders to enhance their operational and KPI tracking. Support and elevate HEMIC Family of Companies' data driven culture. This includes, but not limited to, demoing data reporting and analytical capabilities to business leaders, researching and investigating trends in data science, and training others on tools to grow HEMIC's data skillset. Support the development of subsidiaries and new lines of business and product offerings through data reporting and ongoing trend and production analyses. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or Business-related field. 3-5+ years of relevant experience, preferred. Experience in financial modeling, planning, and analysis using Excel and/or other reporting tools. Experience developing dashboards and reporting in Power BI or equivalent applications, preferred. Excellent math and analytical skills, as well as superior spreadsheet and database skills. Experience working in the insurance or financial services industry, preferred. Drive to take on additional challenges. Detail oriented, self-directed professional. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with delivery deadlines. Planning, organizational, problem-solving, time management and decision-making abilities. Proven success in both team and independent work environments. Strong oral and written communication skills.
