Great West Casualty Company is seeking an Actuarial Intern to join our team and gain valuable hands-on experience in the insurance industry. This opportunity will allow you to apply your analytical skills to real business challenges while working alongside experienced actuarial professionals. As an Actuarial Intern, you will support the actuarial team in analyzing data, evaluating risk, and contributing to projects that help drive strategic business decisions. This internship provides meaningful exposure to actuarial concepts, insurance operations, and the tools used to assess and manage risk. What You'll Do
- Assist with data collection, validation, and analysis to support actuarial studies.
- Participate in pricing, reserving, and profitability analysis projects.
- Support the development and maintenance of actuarial models and reports.
- Analyze trends and patterns in claims, underwriting, and financial data.
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Assist with forecasting and risk analysis initiatives.
- Collaborate with actuarial team members and business partners across the organization.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing an actuarial career path.
- Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams is preferred; candidates who have passed Exam P and/or Exam FM are strongly encouraged to apply, with two completed exams considered highly desirable.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or similar analytical tools is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and as part of a team.
