As a n Actuarial Financial Analysis and Modeling Intern , you'll provide analysis and technical skills in support of fulfilling the strategic objectives for the Assumptions team within the Corporate Actuarial Department. The Intern will primarily assist with varying aspects of assumption setting and data analysis work. The Actuarial Intern position reports to Associate Actuary and can be based out of our office in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas, Des Moines, Iowa, or remotely for the right candidate. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site. Conduct data manipulation, organization, and analysis Assist with updating and improving reports, spreadsheets, and documentation Contribute to attribution analysis of assumptions using Prophet Modeling software Assist with the actuarial assumption setting process while ensuring compliance with the assumption governance framework Assist with assumption documentation and assumption inventory Collect, compile, and analyze policy level data Develop strong relationships by collaborating with other departments and business units (Valuation, Product Development, Planning, and Finance areas)What We're Looking For:
Students eligible for the internship will be current, fulltime students available to work 10 - 20 hours a week, beginning in fall 2026. The intern will be expected to work during and between semesters, including full-time over the summer. This is not a summer only internship. Full-time college student in Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Finance or Computer Science at the sophomore to graduate level Commitment to pursue an actuarial credential demonstrated by preparation for Society of Actuaries-administered exams or exam credit preferred Advanced Excel knowledge/skill required including functions and macro creation, editing and use Demonstrated ability with Visual Basic coding, SQL and/or R preferred Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong GPA in major and in all areas of study Strong written and verbal communication skills Proven organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines required Accuracy and the ability to be very detail oriented Why Choose Security Benefit?
