Job Description
Description and Requirements Job Description Role:
Modern Product -Senior Consultant, Agile & Product Coach Location:
Boston, MA / New England At Slalom, we help organizations build better products by improving not only what they deliver, but how their teams work together to create value.- We're looking for an experienced Agile & Product Coach to join our Modern Product Organization capability. This is a hands-on consulting role for someone who loves working directly with teams, Product Owners, Product Managers, and leaders to solve real delivery challenges, strengthen product thinking, and create better ways of working.
- We're especially interested in people who can bring together Agile coaching, product thinking, and AI fluency. You don't need to have every answer, but you should be curious about emerging AI capabilities, comfortable exploring them with clients, and able to help teams determine where AI can genuinely improve how they discover, plan, build, test, and deliver products.
- This is a hybrid role with regular client-site expectations in the Boston area.
What You'll Do:
No two client engagements are exactly alike, and that's part of what makes this role interesting. Depending on the client and challenge, you may:- Coach teams where the work happens. Partner with Product Owners, Product Managers, Scrum Masters, engineers, and cross-functional teams to strengthen planning, prioritization, discovery, backlog management, delivery, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
- Help teams become more product-minded. Shift conversations from outputs and features toward customer needs, measurable outcomes, experimentation, learning, and business value.
- Improve Agile ways of working. Help teams apply Scrum, Kanban, Lean, SAFe, and other approaches pragmatically to improve flow, quality, predictability, collaboration, and delivery.
- Bring AI into the product lifecycle. Help clients understand where AI can make a meaningful difference across discovery, requirements, planning, development, testing, documentation, measurement, and decision-making.
- Help clients navigate AI choices. Explore available tools and approaches, facilitate experimentation, and help clients identify solutions that make sense for their people, processes, technology environment, and business goals.
- Facilitate meaningful conversations. Design and lead workshops, team launches, planning sessions, retrospectives, value-stream exercises, product sessions, and leadership discussions that move teams forward.
- Understand what's getting in the way. Assess product and Agile maturity, organizational structures, roles, processes, tools, dependencies, and delivery performance and translate what you learn into practical recommendations.
- Shape better operating models. Help clients establish clear roles and responsibilities, team structures, governance, decision rights, planning rhythms, metrics, and ways of working.
- Coach leaders as well as teams. Help leaders remove organizational barriers, improve decision-making, reinforce new behaviors, and create environments where empowered teams can succeed.
- Make improvement measurable. Help clients establish meaningful measures of flow, quality, predictability, customer value, team effectiveness, and business outcomes.
- Make the change stick. Build playbooks, training, coaching materials, and practical tools while developing client capabilities so improvements continue after the engagement ends.
- Help build our Modern Product community.
What We're Looking For:
- 6+ years of experience across Agile coaching, product management, product ownership, Scrum Master, delivery leadership, or similar roles, including at least 1 year working directly with clients
- Experience actively coaching Agile and/or product teams, not simply participating on an Agile team
- Strong knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and Lean, with familiarity with scaled approaches such as SAFe
- Experience coaching Product Owners and Product Managers in areas such as discovery, prioritization, backlog management, roadmapping, customer value, and outcome definition An understanding of modern Product Operating Models, value streams, portfolio management, and product management practices
- Strong facilitation skills and the ability to lead productive conversations with everyone from delivery teams to senior leaders
- Practical knowledge of AI and Generative AI, including an understanding of how these technologies can be applied throughout the Product Development Lifecycle
- The curiosity and judgment to help clients explore AI opportunities and determine the best solution for their specific needs rather than simply chasing the newest technology The ability to quickly understand complex environments, bring structure to ambiguity, and adapt your approach as circumstances change
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills A coaching mindset that values principles over process, outcomes over outputs, and pragmatism over rigid adherence to frameworks The willingness and ability to regularly work alongside our clients in person and commute to client locations in the Boston area It's a
