Pipelines, NLP, React, MySQL, AWS GovCloud About this role We are looking for an AI Engineer with 5+ years of AI/ML experience and 5-8 years of backend engineering experience to join team and help build production-grade AI systems for a high-impact. This is a hybrid AI/backend role - you''ll primarily work as an AI engineer, but you need strong backend chops in Java and AWS to contribute across the stack when needed. You''ll be the first engineer hired for this exciting new initiative, working to bring property management platform capabilities to help low-income families access housing through government programs. This is a startup environment with a ~50-hour work week, a tight-knit team, and the opportunity to make a real difference. What will you be doing? Architecting and deploying production-grade AI systems (RAG, agents, pipelines) for a government contract, focused on making housing more accessible for low-income families Building and maintaining backend infrastructure in Java and AWS, stepping in on backend work as needed to support the team Collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Compliance teams to ensure AI solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with responsible AI and federal compliance standards Working with the existing AI engineer (Alessandro) to expand AI capabilities across government and commercial use cases Occasionally traveling to Washington, DC a few times per year for government-related meetings
