Job Description

The Role East Harbor Financial is a private credit firm in Miami looking for driven AI engineers to build tools that make us faster, sharper, and harder to compete with. This isn't a research role. You'll be building — automating deal workflows, extracting data from financial documents, building internal tools that save the team hours of manual work, and developing AI-powered features that improve how we operate and serve our clients. You'll work across the entire firm: deal processing, underwriting, closing, portfolio management, and client-facing operations. We're a small team, and AI is a major part of where we're headed. Rather than joining an established department, you'll have the rare opportunity to build our AI infrastructure from the ground up— helping shape how AI transforms our business. If you're excited by ownership, innovation, and building something from scratch, this role is for you.

You don't just study AI — you ship things. Side projects, hackathon wins, open-source contributions, personal tools — show us what you've made. Comfortable in code. Python is your primary language. You know your way around APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure. Curious about finance. You don't need a finance degree, but you're interested in how lending works and you're willing to learn the domain deeply. Resourceful. When a library doesn't do what you need, you build around it. When the docs are thin, you figure it out. A clear communicator. You can explain a technical approach to a non-technical team and translate business problems into engineering solutions. Self-directed. You'll have guidance, but not hand-holding. You manage your own priorities and ask smart questions when you're stuck. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field — or equivalent demonstrated experience Proficiency in Python and experience building software beyond coursework Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, or similar) Familiarity with APIs, databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Understanding of version control (Git) and software development best practices General understanding of financial concepts such as financial statements, lending, accounting, banking, or business operations—or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn financial domains Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new domains quickly Preferred Qualifications Portfolio of personal projects, open-source contributions, or deployed AI applications Experience with RAG systems, vector databases, or AI agent frameworks Familiarity with document processing, OCR, or structured data extraction from unstructured sources Exposure to financial services, lending, or accounting data Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript or full-stack development Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus What We Offer Competitive salary commensurate with experience Ground-floor opportunity to build the AI function at a growing private credit firm — you're not maintaining someone else's system, you're creating it Direct exposure to every part of the business: deals, underwriting, closing, portfolio management, and strategy A lean team where your work ships fast and has immediate, visible impact Why East Harbor You won't be building products that sit on a roadmap for months. At East Harbor, your work goes live, solves real business problems, and creates immediate value across the firm. If you want ownership, autonomy, and the opportunity to shape how AI transforms private credit, this is where you'll do it. Application Question(s): Are you currently a resident of Florida?
