A Machine Learning Engineer specializes in designing, building, and deploying machine learning models. They utilize statistical and mathematical techniques, parallelizing processing, hyperparameter tuning, and other optimization methodologies to improve model performance. Responsibilities also include collecting and preprocessing large datasets, conducting exploratory data analysis, working closely with data engineers to understand data requirements, and engineer input variables for machine learning models.

About the Role We're looking for a Lead AI/ML Engineer to drive our AI program and help shape how we build, deploy, and scale machine learning across the organization. You'll lead the development of both image-based and data-driven models, working across two complementary areas: designing and training neural network models—including approaches that route different inputs to specialized sub-networks—and architecting compound AI systems, where multiple specialized models are linked and dynamically orchestrated to solve problems together. This is a role for someone who can advise on our AI direction, execute against it, and build production-grade solutions on both the model and system levels. What You'll Do Advise on the vision for our AI program and execute against the direction set by leadership Design, build, and train neural network models for both computer vision (image-based) and data-driven use cases Develop advanced model architectures where appropriate, including multi-task models and designs that route inputs to specialized sub-networks Architect compound AI systems that link multiple models together, with orchestration and dynamic routing between components to create adaptive, multi-model solutions Make sound architectural judgments about where to draw boundaries—when to build a single end-to-end model versus a system of orchestrated components Deploy models to edge and cloud environments, including NVIDIA Jetson hardware and Azure ML Monitor and optimize both individual models and end-to-end systems in production for accuracy, speed, and reliability Mentor others on AI best practices, and collaborate with development and data teams to build fully functional end-to-end solutions Stay ahead of emerging tools, techniques, and best practices in AI/ML What We're Looking For Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Proven experience leading AI/ML projects or teams Strong programming skills in Python Deep experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn Hands-on experience designing and training neural network models, including for computer vision (image-based) and data-driven applications Familiarity with advanced neural architectures, including multi-task learning and models that route inputs to specialized sub-networks Experience building compound AI systems—linking and orchestrating multiple models with dynamic routing between components Experience deploying models using NVIDIA Jetson hardware and/or Azure ML Solid understanding of core ML concepts (model training, evaluation, optimization, etc.) Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills Nice to Have Experience with edge AI and real-time inference on embedded hardware Familiarity with MLOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow) Familiarity with model orchestration or pipeline frameworks (e.g., LangChain, DSPy, or similar) Knowledge of deep learning, NLP, or large language models (LLMs)
