Job Description A transportation client is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join its newly formed Enterprise Data Platform team and drive adoption of modern data and application engineering practices across the organization. This engineer will partner closely with business and technical stakeholders to build and deploy production-ready, data-driven applications on top of the enterprise data platform, remaining hands-on across architecture, coding, data modeling, and delivery. The role is focused on advancing the company's Single Source of Truth (SSOT) initiative by connecting data across business domains, building and managing domain-specific data pipelines, and implementing data mastering and transformation rules as information moves through the MDM ecosystem. Leveraging technologies such as Snowflake, Postgres, dbt, AWS, Power BI, and AI-assisted development tools like Claude, the engineer will establish scalable development patterns, enhance engineering velocity, support analytics engineering best practices, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure business needs are translated into reliable, high-quality data solutions. •  Hands-on experience building with generative and agentic AI, including LLM APIs, RAG, and agent/tool-calling frameworks, plus daily use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, CoCo etc.) to accelerate delivery
•  8+ years of Software Engineering experience ○ Strong full-stack development experience (APIs, backend services, data pipelines, web applications)
•  Advanced Snowflake experience, including warehouse design, performance and cost optimization, security and access models, and integration patterns
•  Strong PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, query tuning, and operating Postgres as a transactional application database
•  Production dbt experience, including modular model design, testing, documentation, and CI-driven deployment
•  Experience building and deploying applications in AWS (compute, storage, networking, identity, and managed data services)
•  Power BI experience, including semantic modeling, DAX, and delivering embedded or self-service analytics to business users
•  Experience with containers, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code
•  Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and translate ambiguous requirements into deployed, production-grade solutions
•  Forward Deployed Engineer, Staff Engineer, or Principal Engineer experience
•  Experience establishing data and engineering standards, playbooks, or best practices
•  Experience leading data platform modernization or engineering transformation initiatives
•  Advanced proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (CoCo, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.)
•  Experience with orchestration, ingestion, and streaming tooling (Airflow, Kafka or similar)
•  Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI embedded, or row-level security at enterprise scale
•  Transportation, logistics, fleet, or other similar industry experience
•  Cloud, data, or analytics certifications (SnowPro, AWS, Power BI / Fabric)
•  Strong stakeholder-facing and requirements gathering experience
