Job Description

AI Specialist Seeking a contract AI Specialist (hybrid) to coordinate AI pilots, strengthen governance, and support responsible AI adoption across departments. This six-month role (with possibility of extension) combines strategic oversight with hands-on program support.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinate AI pilots, establish success criteria, and track outcomes. Maintain and mature the AI governance framework in partnership with cybersecurity and other stakeholders. Maintain a Countywide inventory of AI tools, vendors, pilots, and use cases. Manage access, licensing, token consumption, and costs for enterprise AI platforms. Coordinate AI vendors, deliverables, demonstrations, and issue resolution. Lead AI Communities of Practice and departmental AI champions. Coordinate onboarding, training, guidance, and support for AI users. Help departments identify high-value AI opportunities and share successful practices. Track adoption, costs, business value, and measurable efficiency gains. Develop executive dashboards and provide updates to leadership.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 5+ years managing technology initiatives or enterprise software projects. Experience with generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or Claude. Understanding of AI governance, privacy, cybersecurity, and responsible AI. Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. Public-sector experience preferred.
