Position Overview Halvik is seeking a Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support an emerging technology program focused on bridging technical Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) capabilities with strategic mission outcomes, governance, security, and advanced development. This role supports the assessment and integration of software technologies and solutions geared toward ensuring comprehensive data security to proactively protect sensitive information processed through cloud-native applications and workloads throughout their development and operational lifecycle. The Senior SME will work closely with Halvik's delivery team, the customer, and stakeholders to help shape the governance of AI within a large enterprise, working alongside AI experts, security engineers, and technology specialists to drive transformative implementations and ensure technology solutions assessed and adopted protect sensitive agency and stakeholder information while enabling the agency's technology adoption goals (e.g., AI/ML). Core Responsibilities Support the crafting and execution of innovative AI/ML strategies to guide technology solutions and set standards for excellence. Lead high-impact AI/ML projects from conception to completion, ensuring seamless project planning and successful execution. Define and evaluate AI, ML, data system, and software requirements for technical feasibility, functional adequacy, and alignment with organizational needs and goals. Collaborate with project team, and government stakeholders, to solve critical business and operational challenges and establish, enforce, and maintain data and AI/ML standards across the enterprise. Create comprehensive AI/ML documentation that meets government review and approval standards. Serve as the go-to expert for AI/ML-related inquiries, providing guidance and mentorship to other team members.
Minimum Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, ideally within a Federal environment. (Can substitute experience with education: MA/MS degree or higher and 8 years of experience OR 14 years of experience.)
Technical Proficiency:
Strong technical aptitude, and proficiency with enterprise operating systems, cloud stacks (e.g., AWS, Azure) and AI/ML software tools and technologies. Proven experience with generative AI models and techniques.
Compliance:
Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
Certifications:
While not mandatory, possession will have more weight in consideration (e.g., CISSP, as well as CCSP, CISM, or a relevant GIAC certification strongly preferred). Preferred Expertise Demonstrated success supporting Federal contracts. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies and enterprise IT service management practices. Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical content into terms suitable for executive and government stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
