Role:
BEPC is seeking a talented and highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to support our client's Discovery Sciences Research and Early Development team. This hybrid opportunity is ideal for a bioinformatics professional with expertise in NGS, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), multiomics, and computational biology. In this role, you will collaborate closely with molecular and computational biologists, wet lab scientists, internal stakeholders, and academic collaborators. You will help design sequencing experiments, develop and maintain analytical pipelines, troubleshoot complex biological datasets, and build scalable bioinformatics tools that support diagnostic assay development.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Partner with multidisciplinary teams of molecular biologists, computational biologists, and wet lab scientists to design, optimize, and troubleshoot advanced high-throughput sequencing and scRNA-seq experiments. Provide bioinformatics expertise throughout the assay development lifecycle, from initial sequencing and validation through production implementation. Develop, implement, and maintain analytical tools and pipelines for processing diagnostic data from disease, germline, and cell-free DNA samples. Create and streamline bioinformatics workflows that improve assay development efficiency, data quality, reproducibility, and scalability. Troubleshoot bioinformatics and data-quality issues to ensure the integrity, accessibility, and reliability of diagnostic data. Establish and promote best practices for documenting, training, maintaining, and scaling algorithms, tools, and computational workflows. Perform scientific and business analyses to address the needs of internal and external stakeholders. Communicate project results, technical findings, and team progress across scientific teams and organizational functions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience. Expertise in DNA/RNA sequencing, NGS, and scRNA-seq data analysis and interpretation. Hands-on experience with 10x Genomics analysis workflows. Strong understanding of molecular biology principles and familiarity with next-generation sequencing laboratory processes. Proficiency in R and/or Python. Experience working within a distributed Linux environment. Ability to create clear and insightful visualizations from complex biological datasets. Strong scientific communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with both computational and wet lab scientists.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a related field with 2+ years of industry experience in clinical diagnostics or a related domain. Alternatively, a Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a related field with 5+ years of industry experience in clinical diagnostics or a related domain.
