Job Description

Under limited supervision, performs bioinformatics analysis and software support for genomics research and projects. Experience in the development of analytical pipelines for biological data and development of innovative data analysis capabilities. Ability to completely define an analytical approach for defined scientific questions. Manages competing demands in a changing work environment; able to anticipate and work around delays or unexpected events. Ability to be autonomous and operate with limited direction. Published collaborative research. Strong presentation skills. Experience with relevant software. Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
EDUCATION
Master's Degree degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Genetics or related field of molecular biology is required.
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years experience directly related to bioinformatics is required. Develops, tests, and maintains modular software pipelines to provide bioinformatics data analysis, preliminary interpretation of the data, and reports of the results. Manages genome sequencing data; including loading and querying data from database sequencing systems, transforming the data to the necessary formats, and moving data to storage. Identifies, evaluates, and incorporates relevant algorithms and software pipelines by reviewing pertinent literature in bioinformatics and computational biology. Manages the sequencing facility web-based page and collaborates with research analysts for downstream data analysis. Performs downstream statistical analysis. Trains new analysts and/or students in the Division of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. Performs all other duties as assigned.
