Full-Time, Exempt About the Role Are you a highly skilled data professional who thrives at the intersection of analytics and backend development? The City of Groton and Groton Utilities are seeking a dynamic IT Business Intelligence Analyst & Developer to lead the full lifecycle of our business intelligence initiatives. In this critical hybrid role, you will do more than just pull data—you will design, architect, and develop the proprietary front-end and back-end applications that power our municipality and public utility. From forecasting operational trends to automating everyday tasks, your technical expertise will directly drive data-driven success for the community.Key Responsibilities System Development:
Design, architect, and develop proprietary front-end and back-end business applications, focusing on SQL-based structures and BI platforms like Power BI and MicroStrategy.Data Visualization & Reporting:
Create high-impact dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support executive summary reporting and organization-wide analytics.Analytical Modeling:
Perform advanced scenario modeling and forecasting for operational and financial planning.Automation:
Define and develop innovative solutions to automate everyday tasks and enhance the performance of internal software tools.Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work directly with internal stakeholders to translate complex business objectives and policy changes into practical, scalable technical specifications.Cyber & Data Security:
Participate in maintaining stringent cyber policies and standards to ensure the protection of sensitive business and utility data.Qualifications & Technical Skills Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).Experience:
3-5+ years of hands-on experience in business intelligence and software development.Databases:
Expert-level proficiency in SQL programming, relational database management, ETL processes, and dimensional data modeling.BI Platforms:
Strong proficiency in Power BI and other enterprise platforms.Programming:
Robust skills in C#, JavaScript, and CSS (familiarity with Python, R, or VBA/Macros is a plus).Tools:
Experience utilizing Visual Studio, Git/Source Control, and Microsoft 365 (Power Automate, Power Apps, Azure Logic Apps).Note:
