Our client, a Banking company, is looking for a Senior Power BI Developer for their Toronto, ON /Hybrid location.

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Power BI Developer to support a Capital Measurement Reporting (CMR) Data Modernization program within the Banking domain.

This role will focus on delivering trusted, well governed, and regulator ready analytics that support capital reporting, risk metrics, and executive decision making.

The successful candidate will work closely with Risk, Finance, Regulatory Reporting, and Data Engineering teams to modernize reporting platforms, enhance transparency, and enable data driven insights aligned to regulatory expectations (e.g., Basel / capital frameworks).

Capital & Risk Reporting Analytics:

Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports supporting Capital Measurement, RWA, Risk Exposure, and Finance metrics.

Translate complex capital and risk data into clear, auditable, and business friendly visualizations.

Enable storytelling for senior management and regulators, ensuring clarity, traceability, and consistency.

Support drill downs from enterprise summaries to granular risk and exposure data.

Data Modernization & Modeling

Build optimized Power BI semantic models aligned with modern data platforms (cloud, curated data layers).

Apply advanced data modeling techniques (star schema, conformed dimensions) for capital and risk data.

Develop and optimize DAX measures for capital calculations, aggregations, trends, and comparisons.

Leverage Power Query (M code) and SQL to support ETL and data transformation requirements.

ETL & Data Integration:

Work with upstream ETL and Data Engineering teams to ensure accurate, timely, and reconciled data feeds.

Support ingestion from multiple banking data sources (risk engines, finance systems, regulatory datasets).

Ensure data lineage, reconciliation, and consistency across reports.

Power BI Service & Governance:

Manage Power BI Service environments, including workspace strategy, datasets, refresh schedules, and access controls.

Implement version control, deployment, and release management practices aligned with enterprise standards.

Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and audit requirements.

Produce high quality documentation to support audit, model validation, and regulatory reviews.

Automation & Power Platform:

Utilize Power Automate to streamline reporting workflows and data validation processes.

Contribute to broader Power Platform adoption within the Capital Measurement ecosystem.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership:

Partner with Risk, Finance, Capital Management, and Technology stakeholders to gather requirements and validate outputs.

Act as a subject matter expert for Power BI within the Capital Measurement Reporting space.

Mentor junior BI developers and promote best practices across the program.

Participate in design reviews and modernization working groups.

Experience:

10-15 years overall experience in Business Intelligence, Data & Analytics

5+ years of advanced Power BI development in Banking / Financial Services

Proven experience supporting Capital, Risk, or Regulatory Reporting initiatives

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Technology, Analytics, Finance, or related field

Microsoft Power BI certification (e.g., PL 300) preferred

Capital and risk stakeholders rely on Power BI as a trusted reporting source

Improved transparency, traceability, and confidence in capital metrics

Well governed, scalable Power BI assets aligned with modernization goals

Strong partnership between Capital, Risk, Finance, and Technology teams
