Summary:
The Chief Mission Officer is a senior leader responsible for driving organizational alignment, program impact, and strategic execution across the agency. This role directly supervises the Client Services and Mental Health department and its leaders to ensure high-quality service delivery, strong outcomes, and mission-aligned operations. The Chief Mission Officer works closely with the CEO to translate organizational priorities into actionable goals, champions the measurement and communication of IYG's impact, and serves as a bridge between the Leadership team and direct service teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and Support Client Services Supervise and coach Client Services and Mental Health teams. Support department leaders in setting, tracking, and evaluating goals and outcomes. Identify and remove barriers that limit effective service delivery. Promote trauma-informed, inclusive and equitable service delivery. Assist with crisis management in support of staff and youth needs. Drive Organizational Impact & Outcomes Measurement Develop and oversee systems to track, measure, and report on programmatic impact and outcomes. Partner with department leaders to define key performance indicators and impact metrics aligned to IYG's mission. Translate outcomes data into insights that inform strategy, funder reporting, and board updates. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and recommend data-informed adjustments. Facilitate Cross-Department Collaboration & Alignment Ensure collaboration between programs, operations, and development to achieve shared goals. Support interdepartmental communication and address breakdowns quickly. Manage cross-functional or special projects that require organization-wide coordination. Serve as a liaison between direct client service teams and the CEO/Leadership Team by advising between both groups. Drive Organizational Effectiveness & Staff Development Lead internal initiatives that improve operational efficiency and program quality. Champion staff development efforts, including coaching, mentoring, and training opportunities. Encourage and reinforce a culture of accountability, inclusivity, and continuous improvement. Build influence and momentum to move IYG forward through change management. Partner with leaders to track progress and celebrate wins. Partner with the CEO in Leadership & Communication Collaborate with the CEO on operational planning, strategy execution, and problem-solving. Provide backup leadership in the CEO's absence. Offer input and perspective to strengthen organizational decision-making. Help anticipate challenges and provide solutions before they escalate.

REQUIREMENTS
- Five plus years of progressive leadership experience; nonprofit or human services experience is a plus, but comparable experience in other sectors (e.g., corporations, healthcare, education, or government) with transferable leadership skills is welcome.
- Supervisory experience of at least three years over other employees
- Master's degree in social work, public administration, nonprofit management, or related field preferred. Bachelor's degree required.
- Travel to other sites on a quarterly basis or as needed
- Demonstrated experience managing teams and/or departments with diverse functions.
- Experience developing or overseeing outcomes measurement, performance metrics, or quality/impact reporting systems, in any industry.
- Strong organizational and strategic planning skills.
- Exceptional verbal & written communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to equity, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive practices.
- High degree of confidentiality, accountability & ownership of work product.
- Strong empathy and interpersonal skills.
