Job Description

Metro Steel is seeking an experienced Robotic Welder Programmer/Operator. Robotic Welder Programmer/Operators ensure parts are manufactured or processed in accordance with process control plans and that production output targets are met. You also need to be able to Adjust and set Robots to Production specifications Operate machines and process work as instructed by the Area supervisor.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensuring parts are made or processed in accordance with instructions listed on the Process Control Plan and Inspection Sheet Efficiently and effectively operating single Lincoln w/ Fanuc robot MIG weld cell Adjusting and setting Robotic Weld machines to specification Ensuring parts are made or processed in a prompt manner and production output figures are met. Experience Must have 2
  • 4 years of prior work experience working with Programming and operating robotic welding machines .
Education and Training Welders must possess a minimum Grade 12 high school education level or equivalent experience. An American Welding Society (AWS) Certification is required and must demonstrate skill in the safe operation of at least two types of welding machinery. Additional on-the-job training is provided. Mathematical skills and knowledge are required to calculate angles, measurements, and formulas. Training in the safe handling of material, machinery, equipment, and tools is required. Welders must be able to read blueprints. Additional OSHA safety and hazardous materials training may be required. The ability to read, write, understand, and follow instructions in English is required for following assigned work orders and job specifications. Understanding how to safely handle mechanical and welding equipment, tools, and machinery is required. Key Functions and Responsibilities Review Work Orders and Set-up Review, interpret and follow blueprints, work orders, and prototypes to determine job specifications, identify the parts or materials required, and select the welding machine required for production. Plan the sequence of work order completion in order to meet deadlines. Locate and organize required materials and machinery. Set-up and calibrate or adjust machine to drawing or job specifications. Prepare Prototypes and First-Off's Calculate and verify dimensions and measurements from drawings to prepare a prototype or first-off. Cut, bend, pre-heat, form and weld materials into shape to prepare prototype. Welding Program Robotic Welder to weld spots and/or seams according to prototype and blueprint location, size and dimensions of weld. Review completed work to ensure parts meet company and customer quality requirements in accordance with
ISO 9001.
Tag all parts/production runs to confirm completion. Follow safety precautions and company guidelines. Maintain Work Area Perform regular cleaning and maintenance duties on machines, equipment, and work area. Deliver welded parts to other departments for the next stage in processing. Ensure that machines, tools, and parts are operating efficiently. Complete duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Core Competencies Communication
