The Catholic Cemeteries of Chicago are the largest private cemetery system in the United States with 47 cemeteries throughout Cook and Lake Counties in Illinois and are looking for dedicated, talented and compassionate individuals to become part of our team.
Job Responsibilities:
Create, maintain, and enhance new and existing software as directed by the Management Team, Information Services.
  • Test and improve software based on the business rules and practices of the Catholic Cemeteries.
  • Work within specifications provided to meet programming assignment goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Stay current with knowledge of computer operating procedures and operating standards.
  • Stay current with knowledge of desktop application technologies including .Net WinForms, Visual Basic 6.0 and others.
  • Stay current with knowledge of server-side web technologies including ASP.Net Web Forms, ASP.NET Core MVC, PHP, Node.js and others.
  • Stay current with knowledge of front-end web technologies including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap and others.
  • Deploy applications, configure services, monitor and troubleshoot in Azure environments.
  • Stay current with knowledge of databases including Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL and others to create and modify databases, tables, queries, stored procedures, indexes, etc.
  • Completely support all existing custom software currently being used.
  • Install and configure custom software for use by staff.
  • Produce documentation as required.
  • Provide ongoing status updates to management, including progress, risks, and issues encountered throughout development activities.
  • Assist with the training of cemetery staff to use custom software.
  • Assist in the preparation of special reports and projects as requested.
  • To discharge other related duties as assigned by the Management Team, Information Services.
Requirements:
College graduate with a degree in Computer Programming or Application Development preferred, Associate Degree in Computer Programming or Application Development a minimum.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with the public, co-workers, and supervisors, and follow through on all assigned work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written fashion with all levels of management, subordinates, vendors, and the general public.
  • Attention to detail, with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Familiarity with office procedures and systems, computers and computer programs.
  • Must be able to work onsite, Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and work extra hours as necessary.
  • Ability to represent the Catholic Cemeteries in a credible fashion both internally and externally.
  • Familiarity with Catholic teachings and traditions is preferred.
