POSITION OVERVIEW
The
FANUC 3DV
Programmer is responsible for programming, integrating, and supporting FANUC robots equipped with 3D vision (iRVision / 3DV) systems for automotive assembly, welding, material handling, and quality inspection applications. This role works closely with controls engineers, tooling teams, and production to deploy reliable, cycle-time-optimized automated cells.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program and commission FANUC robots using FANUC Teach Pendant (TP) and
ROBOGUIDE
offline simulation software Set up, calibrate, and optimize FANUC iRVision 2D/3D vision systems, including 3DL (Laser) and 3DA (Area) sensor configurations Develop and debug Karel programs for advanced motion logic and I/O handling Integrate robot systems with PLC controls (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi) via DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, and Profinet protocols Perform robot mastering, calibration, and TCP setup for new and existing tooling Troubleshoot robot faults, vision errors, and communication failures to minimize downtime Support PPAP, PFMEA, and process launch documentation for new model year programs Collaborate with automation engineers and line builders during cell design, build, and runoff phases Participate in continuous improvement and cycle time reduction initiatives on production lines Train maintenance and operations personnel on basic robot operation and fault recovery
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of hands-on FANUC robot programming experience in an automotive manufacturing environment Proficiency with FANUC iRVision — 2D, 3D-L (laser), and/or 3D-A (area sensor) applications Experience with
ROBOGUIDE
simulation (HandlingPRO, WeldPRO, or PaintPRO) Strong understanding of robot kinematics, TCP setup, and UF/UT frame configuration Familiarity with PLC communication protocols and basic ladder logic troubleshooting Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and cell layouts Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under production pressure
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FANUC
Certified Robot Operator (CRO) or System Operator certification Experience with spot welding, MIG welding, or laser welding robot applications Exposure to FANUC Force Sensing (FS) or Bin Picking (3DV-based) applications Knowledge of
ANSI/RIA R15.06
robot safety standards Prior experience at a Tier 1/Tier 2 automotive supplier or line builder Background in assembly, body-in-white (BIW), powertrain, or stamping environments
Pay:
$55.00 - $60.00 per hour
