Position Summary The CNC Programmer/Machinist - Swiss is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating Swiss-style CNC equipment to produce complex, high-precision medical device components. This position supports new job development, process improvement, and troubleshooting while maintaining quality, efficiency, and production requirements. Essential Responsibilities Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for complex, tight-tolerance components. Program, set up, and operate Swiss CNC machines. Develop and document efficient machining processes, including tooling, feeds and speeds, workholding, and machining strategies. Develop setup sheets, tooling lists, and workholding strategies for new and existing jobs. Support new job launches from programming and setup through production. Troubleshoot program, setup, tooling, and machining issues on the production floor. Make program and process adjustments to improve quality, cycle time, tool life, and overall efficiency. Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to develop and improve machining processes. Maintain accurate CNC programs, setup documentation, and related manufacturing records. Follow all company quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures. Qualifications 7-10+ years of CNC programming and machining experience preferred. Strong experience programming, setting up, and operating Swiss CNC equipment. Experience with Citizen or comparable Swiss-style CNC machines preferred. Advanced knowledge of CNC programming principles, tooling, feeds and speeds, and machining processes. Strong GD&T knowledge and ability to interpret complex engineering drawings. Experience machining complex, tight-tolerance components. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Medical device or other high-precision manufacturing experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, CNC certification, or related education preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate CNC machinery, tools, measuring equipment, and computer equipment. Ability to lift and carry materials, tooling, and components as required for the position.
