Security and Access Control Networking Programmer

Job Description

Our client is seeking a technically strong Access Control & Security Systems Network Programmer to support the programming, networking, integration, and commissioning of commercial security systems throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

This is not simply an installation position. Our client has plenty of technicians who can install cameras, readers, panels, and access-control hardware. The challenge is finding someone who understands what happens behind the hardware-someone who can work with Windows, servers, networks, databases, security applications, and system programming to bring an entire security environment together.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical problem solver who can bridge the gap between physical security systems and IT infrastructure.

What You'll DoProgram, configure, commission, and troubleshoot enterprise access control systems, including platforms such as Lenel OnGuard, Genetec, Software House C

•CURE, Avigilon, or similar.

Configure and troubleshoot IP networks supporting security systems, including VLANs, subnetting, IP addressing, routing, and network connectivity.

Work with Windows-based servers and operating systems supporting access control, video management, and other security applications.

Assist with server setup, application installation, database configuration, user permissions, and system administration.

Configure and troubleshoot security system software and back-end infrastructure to ensure reliable communication between devices, servers, applications, and networks.

Integrate access control, video management systems (VMS), and other security technologies into cohesive solutions.

Troubleshoot complex issues involving hardware, software, networking, servers, databases, and system integrations.

Support system startup, commissioning, programming, and deployment for commercial security projects throughout the DFW market.

Work closely with project managers, service technicians, customers, and other technical teams to resolve issues and deliver fully operational systems.

Read system documentation, network diagrams, and technical specifications to identify configuration and connectivity issues.

Provide technical support after installation and assist with system modifications, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Diagnose problems beyond the physical installation, identifying whether an issue originates with the device, application, Windows environment, server, database, or network.

What We're Looking For3+ years of computer and network security experience or comparable experience working with security technology and IT infrastructure.

Hands-on experience programming and supporting commercial access control or integrated security systems.

Strong understanding of Windows environments, including server/client configuration and troubleshooting.

Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, IP addressing, switches, and connectivity troubleshooting.

Experience working with servers, databases, and security applications.

Ability to troubleshoot and configure back-end security system infrastructure, not just install field hardware.

Experience with one or more major access control platforms such as Lenel OnGuard, Genetec, C

•CURE, Avigilon, or comparable systems.

Understanding of video management systems (VMS) and integrating VMS with access control and other security platforms.

Ability to work independently in the field while communicating effectively with customers and internal teams.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to determine the root cause of technical issues.

Low-voltage, electronic security, IT, networking, or systems-integration experience is preferred.

CompTIA Network+, manufacturer certifications, or comparable technical certifications are a plus.

The Ideal CandidateOur client is specifically looking for someone who can go beyond "installing the camera".

You should be comfortable asking:

Is the device communicating properly on the network?

Is the VLAN configured correctly?

Is the Windows server communicating with the controller?

Is the application configured correctly?

Is there a database or service issue?

Are permissions or authentication preventing communication?

Can the security platforms be properly integrated?

What needs to be programmed or configured to make the entire system function as intended?

If you understand both the physical security technology and the IT infrastructure behind it, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact.

Why Join Our Client?

Work on complex commercial security projects throughout the DFW market.

Become part of a growing organization with opportunities for long-term career advancement.

Gain exposure to enterprise access control, networking, Windows/server environments, VMS, and integrated security technologies.

Work alongside experienced project and service professionals.

Access to in-house technical training and development.

Competitive compensation based on experience, plus benefits.

If you're a security systems professional who understands what happens behind the hardware-and can make the network, Windows environment, programming, and security platforms work together-we want to hear from you.
