Position Overview The Service Technician/Programmer is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, programming, and configuring low voltage and integrated systems installed by Region 6. This includes access control, video surveillance, A/V, networking, and related systems in commercial and multifamily properties. This position combines field service responsibilities with system programming and configuration. In addition to responding to service needs, the Service Technician/Programmer supports projects by programming installed devices and configuring associated accounts and platforms following physical installation. Unlike installation technicians, this position primarily supports post installation service and system programming rather than performing the physical installation of new systems. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, strong problem solving skills, programming knowledge, and a customer focused approach to ensure systems are properly configured, maintained, and performing as intended. Key Responsibilities System Programming & Configuration Configure and program access control, video surveillance, networking, and other integrated low voltage systems Set up system accounts and associated devices within applicable platforms Program newly installed doors, cameras, and other devices following physical installation Configure device settings, naming, labeling, and system parameters to ensure accurate system setup Add and configure devices within applicable management and monitoring platforms Complete end of project programming and configuration to support system completion and turnover Coordinate with installation and service teams to ensure programming is completed according to project schedules Verify programmed devices are communicating and functioning properly within the system Troubleshoot programming and configuration issues and make necessary corrections Maintain accurate documentation of system programming and configuration System Troubleshooting & Repairs Diagnose and resolve issues in existing access control, security, surveillance, networking, and A/V systems Troubleshoot both physical devices and system programming or configuration issues Perform repairs and adjustments on devices, cabling, programming, and configurations Replace hardware components, rewire connections, or reconfigure software as needed Update firmware and conduct device resets when required Verify communication between field devices and associated software platforms Field Service Execution Respond to service tickets promptly and professionally Perform onsite troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and programming as assigned Communicate findings and recommended next steps to internal teams and clients Coordinate warranty and RMA processing as needed Maintain accurate documentation of service actions in CRM and ticketing systems Ensure service and programming work is completed according to scheduled project and client needs Preventative Maintenance & Inspection Perform periodic inspections on Region 6 installed systems to ensure long term performance Clean, test, and validate critical system components Review system functionality and device communication Identify potential issues proactively and recommend updates, repairs, or service Identify offline or noncommunicating systems and devices that may require service Client Interaction & Onsite Professionalism Provide technical support to clients during service visits Clearly communicate technical findings, recommendations, and next steps Ensure excellent communication and follow up to close out service events Represent Region 6 professionally onsite and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction Communicate scheduling delays, recommendations, or unresolved issues to the support team Compliance & Safety Follow all job site safety procedures and PPE requirements Ensure work complies with applicable building codes, NEC requirements, and company standards Maintain safe driving habits when traveling to and from job sites in a company vehicle Additional Responsibilities Participate in the on call rotation for emergency service calls Attend regular team meetings and training Maintain applicable licenses and manufacturer certifications Continue developing technical knowledge of supported systems and platforms Perform other duties as assigned QualificationsEducation & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum 3 years of experience in low voltage service, installation, programming, or technical troubleshooting Active Washington State 06 license required Experience in both installation and programming of low voltage systems required Experience with programming systems and platforms such as Brivo, Eagle Eye, Avigilon, Meraki, ButterflyMX, Honeywell, Bosch, and similar platforms strongly preferred Manufacturer certifications in applicable platforms such as Brivo, Eagle Eye, and Avigilon preferred Valid Washington State Driver's License and clean driving record Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Capable of working independently and solving complex technical problems in the field Proficient in low voltage system diagnostics, repair, programming, and configuration Strong working knowledge of access control, IP video, A/V integration, and networking Ability to configure accounts, devices, naming conventions, and system settings within manufacturer platforms Ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software related system issues Comfortable working within cloud based and manufacturer specific programming platforms Comfortable using mobile devices, diagnostic tools, programming interfaces, and service applications Strong attention to detail, time management, and task ownership Ability to coordinate technical work with installation, service, and support teams Excellent communication and documentation skills Working Environment This role operates primarily in the field servicing completed properties and supporting system programming for Region 6 projects. The technician reports daily to the Seattle Warehouse and travels to client locations in a company provided vehicle. Work environments include commercial and multifamily buildings, mechanical rooms, rooftops, occupied facilities, and active project sites. The Service Technician/Programmer may work both indoors and outdoors depending on the nature of the service or programming assignment. Programming responsibilities are coordinated with project and service schedules and may occur onsite or remotely depending on the system, project, and work being performed. Physical Demands This role requires regular movement between job sites, client buildings, and vehicles.
Must be able to:
Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb stairs or ladders throughout the workday Lift and carry up to 50 pounds of tools and hardware Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions Use power tools and manual hand tools with precision Work with computers, mobile devices, and programming interfaces for extended periods as needed Navigate tight or elevated workspaces using appropriate safety precautions Wear required PPE based on site conditions
