Supportive colleagues and management who invest in your growth Ignite Digital is seeking an experienced Engineer/Scientist II to provide engineering, systems support, and software development expertise for a US Navy software maintenance initiative in the Norfolk, VA area. This role supports missioncritical Navy and joint operational readiness activities, applying advanced engineering and analytical skills to help modernize, develop, sustain, and test complex defense systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Support software development, sustainment, and modernization activities across project efforts
Conduct systems/equipment support, troubleshooting, and lifecycle sustainment activities
Perform test & evaluation support including documentation, data analysis, and reporting
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and refine technical solutions
Apply engineering principles to model, assess, and improve mission and maintenance workflows
Support government customer objectives through disciplined engineering, testing, and project execution
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following fields:
Engineering, Physics, Network Security, Information Systems, or Computer Science Certification Requirement (Software Engineer or ComputerRelated Degrees):
Candidates with software or computerfocused degrees must be actively working toward one of the following within 18 months of assuming duties: Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)
Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP)
OR (with COR approval) one vendor/platformspecific certification such as:
Microsoft:
MCSD, MCAD, MCDBA
Sun Certified Professional (SCP)
Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP)
Cisco:
CCNP, CCDP
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
Certified SAFe/Agile Software Engineer
Certified SAFe DevOps Practitioner
Certified SAFe Architect
AWS Foundational, Associate, or Professional certifications
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in software development and maintenance, including:
• Systems/equipment support
• Test & evaluation support
One (1) year of technical experience supporting a software development and maintenance project/program
(This year of experience may be achieved concurrently with the above requirements.)
Experience with DoW C4ISR, maintenance, logistics, or business systems strongly preferred.
Relevant industry experience supporting complex solutions may be considered with COR approval.
Additional Requirements:
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET Security Clearance
Strong analytical skills, problemsolving abilities, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively across technical teams and customer environments
Commitment to structured development practices and disciplined engineering methodologies
Salary:
