Job Description

We are looking for a Desktop Support Technician to provide hands-on technical assistance for end users and maintain reliable day-to-day workstation operations in Merced, California. This Contract position supports a broad range of desktop, laptop, mobile, and peripheral needs while helping staff stay productive across multiple departments. The role is well suited for someone who combines strong troubleshooting ability with clear communication and a service-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver responsive support through the service desk by diagnosing user issues, tracking requests, and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and repair desktop computers, laptops, and related accessories used throughout the organization.
  • Assist employees with hardware, software, and access-related problems, translating technical solutions into clear guidance for non-technical users.
  • Maintain accurate records for IT assets, prepare and deploy imaged devices, and coordinate scheduled equipment refresh activities.
  • Provision and support mobile devices, including setup, configuration, inventory tracking, and ongoing management.
  • Create, update, and remove user accounts and permissions within Active Directory and other business systems as part of onboarding and offboarding activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation and user-facing instructions to improve consistency, knowledge sharing, and support efficiency.
  • Configure and deploy printers and collaborate with external vendors on testing and rolling out software or technology services.
  • Serve as a point of contact for district-specific applications by assisting users and coordinating with software providers when deeper support is needed.
