Information Technology Full Job Description Position Summary:
The IT Support Technician is a hands-on, entry-level IT position responsible for providing day-to-day technical support to company employees and assisting with the operation and maintenance of the company's technology environment. This position is well suited for someone with a solid foundation in desktop support and basic networking who is interested in developing broader IT skills. The successful candidate will receive hands-on training and progressively gain experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 administration, networking, cybersecurity, and cloud services. Opportunities for advancement may be available as the employee develops additional technical skills, experience, and proficiency.
Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day technical support for desktops, laptops, software, printers, and peripherals Support Microsoft 365 applications, remote connectivity, networking, and telecommunications Deploy workstations and manage employee onboarding/offboarding Maintain equipment inventory and handle hardware shipping and receiving Perform basic network troubleshooting Run cabling and perform other hands-on equipment setup as needed Maintain accurate IT documentation of work performed Log and track work in the company ticketing system Lift and move IT equipment as required
Qualifications:
Good working knowledge of Windows desktops and common PC hardware Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive Basic understanding of networking concepts including
TCP/IP, IP
addressing, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, and VPNs Ability to troubleshoot common hardware, software, printer, connectivity, and user-access problems Basic understanding of computer and information security practices Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learn Good communication and customer-service skills Ability to work effectively with remote employees and users with varying levels of technical knowledge Ability to follow documented procedures while developing independent troubleshooting skills Strong attention to detail and willingness to document work performed Willingness to perform a wide variety of hands-on IT tasks Ability to lift and move equipment High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications One to two years of IT support or related technical experience. Relevant education, technical training, certifications, internships, or equivalent hands-on experience may be considered in place of prior employment experience. Associate degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or completion of a recognized IT certification or technical training program. Familiarity with Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID. CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or similar industry-recognized technical certification. Exposure to Windows Server administration, endpoint management, networking, cybersecurity, or cloud technologies. Demonstrated interest in developing skills in systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, and cloud technologies. Physical Requirements The physical requirements described below are representative of those necessary to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to lift, carry, move, and install IT equipment weighing up to approximately 40 pounds. Ability to perform equipment installation and cabling work, which may require reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, or working under desks and in server or network closets. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout office, equipment, and storage areas for varying periods during the workday. Ability to use computers, keyboards, hand tools, and other equipment commonly associated with IT support work. Work Environment and Schedule This is an on-site position based in Newbury Park, California. Regular attendance at the assigned work location is an essential function of the position. The position generally works standard business hours, Monday through Friday. Occasional work outside of regularly scheduled hours may be required to support system maintenance, technology projects, outages, or other business needs. Non-exempt employees will be compensated for all hours worked, including overtime when applicable, in accordance with applicable law and company policy.
