100% Onsite Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Desktop Support Technician to join our IT support team. This role is essential in ensuring the seamless operation of desktop systems, hardware, and software across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical proficiency, excellent customer service skills, and a comprehensive understanding of operating systems, network infrastructure, and IT support procedures. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving technical issues promptly, maintaining hardware and software systems, and supporting end-users to maximize productivity. Duties Provide technical support for desktop computers, laptops, peripherals, and mobile devices across various operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux. Troubleshoot hardware issues such as desktops, monitors, printers, and other peripherals; perform hardware maintenance and upgrades as needed. Assist users with software troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and updates for applications including Microsoft Office and other productivity tools. Manage user accounts and permissions through Active Directory management; support account provisioning and de-provisioning. Support system administration tasks including Windows Server administration, network connectivity issues (LAN/WAN), VPN configurations, firewalls, and overall IT infrastructure. Handle help desk tickets using platforms such as ServiceNow or BMC Remedy; prioritize issues effectively to ensure minimal downtime. Maintain computer management records; perform routine hardware maintenance and inventory management. Collaborate with network administrators to resolve computer networking issues related to LAN/Wi-Fi connectivity. Assist in implementing security measures such as firewall configurations and VPN access to safeguard organizational data. Document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and system configurations accurately for future reference. Proficiency in operating systems including Windows (Windows 10/11), macOS, and Linux environments. Solid understanding of computer networking concepts such as LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, and network troubleshooting techniques. Experience with Active Directory management for user account administration. Familiarity with IT service management tools like ServiceNow or BMC Remedy; ticketing system experience is preferred. Knowledge of system administration tasks on Windows Server platforms. Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users with excellent customer service skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documenting processes and maintaining records. Technical proficiency in hardware support including computer hardware components and peripheral devices. Understanding of security best practices related to IT infrastructure.
