Job Description

The Town of Waterford IT Department is searching for a Personal Computer Technician. This position is full time, and has excellent benefits. Applications must be returned to the Human Resources Office.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The PC Technician provides quality technology support throughout all town facilities as assigned. The PC Technician resolves end user PC problems related to hardware defects, software configuration or operator error. The PC Technician assists with technology maintenance and projects as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Respond to Waterford Help Deskrequests and work assignments. Provides work detail information upon completion of each request in a timely manner to the Help Desk and/or other IT personnel, as designated. Provide technical support for town facilities in a timely manner. Provide hardware and software troubleshooting and maintenance. Provide training and assistance to computer users on new and upgraded technology. Install and configure computer hardware, software, and peripheral components. Assist with deployment of new PC images. Familiarization with Active Directory and GPO's (group policy objects). Load and verify correct operation of software packages. Assist IT Support Engineer, Information Technology Manager, and/or other IT personnel as needed. Participates in the 24-hour emergency call rotation. Works outside regular work hours, as needed. Performs any and all other duties as assigned. Regular attendance is an essential duty of this job.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables; apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the community; speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication; perform duties with awareness of all Town requirements and policies.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Minimum of some technical schooling or two years' information technology experience preferred. Good interpersonal skills along with the desire to learn and work with new technology. Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Windows-based software. Familiarity with networks (wired and wi-fi) and network security software. Experience with computer hardware systems (e.g., PC systems, laptops; network cards, scanners, printers and mobile devices).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; operate a computer; and reach with hands and arms. The PC Technician will be required to lift and carry 50 pounds of computer related equipment on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Pay:

$22.58 - $24.92 per hour
