Salary:

$68,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year plus benefits Synergy is looking for a customer-focused IT Solutions Engineer to join our Plan/Build team. This role is for someone who combines strong technical ability with exceptional communication skills. You should be comfortable troubleshooting a complex Microsoft 365 or infrastructure issue, delivering a customer project, and then explaining the situation to a customer executive in clear business language. We are particularly interested in candidates who can translate between technical teams, end users, customer leadership, vendors, and security specialists. You must be able to understand the technical details without overwhelming customers with jargon, explain risks and recommendations clearly, and help people make informed decisions. You will deliver cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity remediation, and modernization projects in a highly collaborative environment. We are looking for a genuine team player who shares knowledge, supports colleagues, communicates openly, and brings a low-ego, high-accountability approach to their work. The ideal candidate also understands how to leverage artificial intelligence, scripting, and automation to reduce repetitive work and improve consistency. We want someone who uses AI thoughtfully to enhance their own knowledge, judgment, and productivity, not someone who relies on it to do the thinking for them.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Customer Communication and Technical Translation Build trusted relationships with customer stakeholders, from end users and internal IT teams to senior executives. Translate technical problems, cybersecurity risks, and proposed solutions into clear business language. Explain what happened, why it matters, the available options, and the recommended next steps. Lead customer meetings, technical discussions, project updates, and solution reviews. Ask effective questions to uncover the business need behind a technical request. Set realistic expectations and communicate potential risks, dependencies, costs, and timelines. Produce clear, customer-ready documentation, recommendations, and project updates. Technical Support and Ownership Provide advanced technical support across Microsoft 365, Azure, Teams, Entra ID, SharePoint, Intune, Purview, endpoint management, networks, and related technologies. Take ownership of complex technical issues and coordinate their resolution from initial investigation through customer communication and completion. Support customer onboarding, migrations, upgrades, modernization initiatives, and advisory engagements. Administer and support Microsoft 365, Azure resources, Entra ID, Conditional Access, Microsoft Defender, Intune, Purview, identity services, and occasional legacy on-premises environments. Occasionally handle escalations from the help desk team involving complex technical issues. Investigate root causes and develop long-term solutions for recurring technical problems. Project Delivery Deliver customer projects involving cloud migrations, infrastructure modernization, identity, security, networking, and automation. Develop practical solutions that account for the customer's business needs, budget, technical environment, and risk profile. Coordinate technical work with customers, vendors, third-party security firms, and other Synergy team members. Identify project risks and dependencies early and communicate them clearly. Maintain accurate project notes, technical documentation, configurations, and handoff materials. Support and mentor less-experienced team members through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and constructive guidance. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Synergy's processes, technical standards, documentation, and customer experience. Cybersecurity Remediation Review findings from penetration tests, vulnerability assessments, security audits, and gap analyses. Translate security findings into understandable business risks and prioritized remediation plans. Implement and document corrective actions across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, endpoints, servers, networks, firewalls, and related systems. Strengthen customer environments through identity protection, multifactor authentication, Conditional Access, least-privilege access, endpoint security, patching, configuration improvements, and other risk-reduction measures. Help customers prepare for or respond to cybersecurity and compliance assessments. Work alongside independent testing organizations to verify findings and coordinate effective remediation. Assist with security policies, procedures, disaster recovery planning, and audit-readiness activities where appropriate. Track remediation work through completion and clearly communicate any remaining risks or recommended actions. Synergy works alongside independent security testing teams to turn identified vulnerabilities into practical, effective improvements. Learn more about our cybersecurity remediation services at: https://www.synergyonline.com/cybersecurity-remediation AI, Scripting, and Automation Leverage AI tools to improve research, troubleshooting, documentation, scripting, and repetitive administrative work. Apply independent technical knowledge and judgment to evaluate, challenge, and validate AI-generated output. Recognize when AI is useful and when direct technical investigation or conventional troubleshooting is more appropriate. Identify recurring manual tasks and automate them using PowerShell, Power Automate, APIs, or other appropriate tools. Thoroughly test AI-generated scripts, configurations, documentation, and recommendations before using them internally or in customer environments. Share useful automations, scripts, prompts, and lessons learned with the wider team.

Qualifications:

Required Experience & Skills At least four years of hands-on IT engineering, systems administration, consulting, or advanced technical support experience. Experience working directly with customers, preferably within an MSP, consulting firm, or professional services environment. Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud, identity, endpoint, server, and networking technologies. The ability to communicate confidently with both technical and nontechnical audiences, including customer executives. Experience taking ownership of complex technical problems and customer deliverables. Strong written communication, documentation, organization, and time-management skills. The ability to balance multiple customers, projects, and priorities. Experience using AI tools to augment technical work while independently validating their output. Sound judgment and the willingness to ask for help, involve others, and share knowledge when appropriate. A collaborative, low-ego approach focused on team success rather than individual territory.
