The Tier 1 Help Desk Technician provides desktop and end-user support for all Local Area Network (LAN) users. This includes all computer installs and upgrades, hardware and software moves/adds/changes, and LAN administration. Provides computer desktop hardware support by installing workstations, cable connections, printers, fax machines and telephone equipment for new or relocated users. Perform troubleshooting activities for equipment. Install software applications in accordance with licensure agreements. Installs and sets up telecommunications equipment, including land phones, personal digital assistants and cell phones. Provide copier, printer and facsimile machine support by troubleshooting, changing toner and notifying vendors if repair or replacement is necessary. Works a standard weekly schedule of 40 hours with overtime as required. Performs other duties as required
Non- Essential Job Functions:
May set up video or phone conferencing May provide basic computer training to new hires May provide basic software training to new hires
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have basic computer, networking, and telecommunication knowledge with an understanding of how they work. Must have excellent troubleshooting abilities Must be capable of learning and troubleshooting various software programs as needed Software options may include commercial off the shelf or proprietary company products such as JD Edwards, Conest, BluBeam, AutoCAD, ToolWatch, etc. Must be able to use some or all of the following technologies: Microsoft Active Directory Network Environment, Microsoft Windows Server 2012, TCP/IP, SQL, VMWare, and Microsoft Windows 7-10, Google Apps. Must possess interpersonal skills to accept assignments and communicate technical issues to end-users, vendors, and other network support personnel.
