Position Overview We are seeking a dependable and resourceful Field IT Support Technician to provide hands-on technical support for our clients throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area. This is a field-based position for someone who enjoys working with technology, solving practical problems, and interacting directly with end users. You will prepare and deploy computers, perform basic onsite troubleshooting, maintain equipment and site documentation, coordinate warranty repairs, and serve as the hands and eyes for remote technical teams. This is not a systems administrator or advanced network engineering position . You don't need to know everything you encounter. You do need to know how to troubleshoot methodically, follow established procedures, document your work, determine when something is outside your scope, and get the right people involved. Above all, we're looking for someone who can work independently and take ownership of their responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Computer Deployment & Hardware Support Receive, inventory, stage, and prepare new desktops and laptops. Coordinate equipment deliveries and onsite appointments with end users, managers, and client contacts. Deliver and install computers at client locations. Assist with basic user-profile migrations, including browser profiles, bookmarks, saved passwords, and other user settings when appropriate. Install and configure docking stations, monitors, keyboards, mice, webcams, printers, scanners, and other peripherals. Troubleshoot basic Windows, hardware, driver, printer, scanner, and peripheral issues. Perform basic laptop and desktop component replacements and upgrades. Clone and replace hard drives or SSDs when required. Retrieve failed or damaged equipment from client locations. Initiate OEM warranty claims, track repairs or replacements, and coordinate the process through completion. Maintain accurate inventories of computers, spare equipment, parts, peripherals, and other IT assets. Identify warning lights, failed drives, dead network ports, power issues, disconnected equipment, and other obvious hardware conditions. Replace network and patch cables. Trace connections between offices, wall jacks, patch panels, and network switches. Use basic cable-testing and tracing equipment. Assist remote engineers with physical troubleshooting and equipment changes. Replace UPS/battery backup equipment and perform basic server drive swaps when trained and directed. Help determine whether a problem involves the endpoint, cabling, network connection, power, hardware, or another system before escalating. The ability to terminate Ethernet cables is helpful but not required . End-User Support Assist users with routine computer and peripheral issues. Help users enroll in approved multifactor authentication methods, including authenticator applications and passkeys. Provide basic assistance with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace applications. Assist with basic VoIP phone functions such as accessing voicemail and transferring calls. Help users submit support requests through the appropriate support channel so issues are properly documented and placed into the service queue. Advanced Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, server, firewall, or network administration is not required . More complex issues should be escalated to the appropriate technical resource. Documentation & Site Information Accurate documentation is an important part of this position. You may be responsible for documenting and maintaining information such as: Workstation and user locations. Wireless access point, switch, server, UPS, printer, and other equipment locations. Network closets, patch panels, wall jacks, and relevant cabling information. VoIP extensions and associated users or locations. Internet, telephone, VoIP, copier, and other third-party providers. Equipment changes and observations made during onsite visits. Troubleshooting performed, results, escalations, and outstanding follow-up items. Documentation should be clear enough that another technician can understand what was found or performed without having been onsite. Escalation & Follow-Through A major part of this role is knowing how to move an issue forward when you cannot resolve it yourself. Escalation does not always mean calling our office. Depending on the situation, you may need to contact an OEM manufacturer, ISP, VoIP provider, copier company, partner MSP, another help desk, client manager, or another responsible party. We expect you to identify who owns the problem, provide useful troubleshooting information, document the escalation, and follow up when appropriate. If something cannot be completed, we want to know what happened, who has it, and what happens next. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Comfortable working independently at client locations. Dependable and able to manage appointments and responsibilities without constant supervision. Methodical when troubleshooting technical problems. Resourceful when encountering unfamiliar equipment or situations. Comfortable recognizing when something exceeds their technical scope. Professional and courteous with end users, managers, vendors, and technical personnel. Organized and good at managing follow-ups. Able to write clear notes and technical documentation. Candidates must be comfortable driving between client locations; carrying and installing typical computers, monitors, UPS units, and related equipment; working underneath desks and around office furniture; and working in network or server rooms. Occasional scheduled after-hours work may be required for activities such as UPS replacements, server drive replacements, or other work that cannot reasonably be performed during a client's normal business hours. A company vehicle is provided for business-related travel. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Benefits Health insurance is not currently offered with this position. The company intends to evaluate health-insurance options as our benefits program develops, with a current goal of reviewing options around Q2 2027 . Future availability and timing are not guaranteed. Additional compensation, paid time off, holidays, and other employment details will be discussed during the hiring process. The Bottom Line You don't need to be a senior engineer, and we don't expect you to know how to administer every system you encounter. We are looking for someone who sees a problem and asks: Is it powered on? Is it connected? What changed? What should this normally look like? Can I isolate the problem? Who supports this system? What information will they need from me? What happens next? If you're hands-on, technically curious, organized, dependable, comfortable working independently, and take pride in seeing things through, we'd like to hear from you.
