$50,000 to $60,000 Position Summary The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing frontline technical support and customer service to employees of the DuPage County Circuit Clerk's Office, as well as other external stakeholders. This position serves as the primary point of contact for technology-related issues and supports the daily operation of court technology systems, desktop computers, mobile devices, printers, software applications, and related infrastructure. The IT Support Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring employees have reliable access to the technology required to support court operations. This position performs end-user support, troubleshooting, equipment deployment, account maintenance, and daily operational tasks associated with the DuPage Unified Court System (DUCS) and other business applications used throughout the Clerk's Office. Responsibilities are aligned with the organization's court technology environment, which includes Windows workstations, Microsoft 365, DUCS, and related systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities End User Support Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests from Clerk's Office personnel. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printing, network, and application issues. Provide in-person, telephone, email, and remote support to end users. Escalate complex issues to senior technical staff, vendors, or software developers as appropriate. Follow up with users to ensure issues are fully resolved and documented. Assist users with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and OneDrive. Provide support for courtroom, departmental, and administrative technology. DUCS and Court Application Support Provide day-to-day support for DUCS and related court applications. Assist staff with application questions, basic troubleshooting, and workflow issues. Monitor and report application problems affecting court operations. Coordinate with Software Development and support teams when advanced troubleshooting is required. Assist with testing and rollout of DUCS updates and enhancements. DUCS is a core court case management platform used throughout the Clerk's Office environment. Daily Operations and Reporting Execute and monitor daily morning operational procedures. Run, verify, print, and distribute scheduled court and management reports. Execute DUCS housekeeping and maintenance jobs according to established procedures. Review job results and identify failures, exceptions, or processing issues. Maintain logs and documentation of completed operational activities. Coordinate with technical staff when housekeeping jobs or reports require troubleshooting. Historical operational documentation indicates routine submission and verification of DUCS housekeeping processes as part of daily operations. Desktop and Device Support Configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, monitors, and peripherals. Install operating systems, drivers, software, and security updates. Support printers, scanners, signature pads, and other courtroom and office devices. Assist with workstation moves, additions, and changes. Maintain and audit inventory records for assigned equipment. Account Administration Create, modify, and disable user accounts according to established procedures. Support Active Directory and Microsoft 365 account administration. Reset passwords and assist users with authentication and access issues. Assist with user onboarding and offboarding activities. Documentation and Customer Service Maintain accurate service ticket records and technical documentation. Create and update user guides and knowledge base articles. Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical users. Deliver professional, courteous, and responsive customer service. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to three years of experience providing technical support in a helpdesk, desktop support, or customer support environment. Experience supporting Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications. Working knowledge of computer hardware, printers, networking fundamentals, and common business applications. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting government, legal, judicial, or public sector environments. Familiarity with case management systems or court technology applications. Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365 administration, and endpoint management. Knowledge of DUCS or other court case management platforms. Experience with ticket management systems and IT service processes. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong customer service orientation. Ability to prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team. Ability to document technical procedures and solutions. Ability to learn new technologies and business processes quickly. Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling court and personnel information. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move computer equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods. Work Environment This position operates primarily in an office and courthouse environment supporting employees, courtroom operations, and administrative functions. Work hours are scheduled between 6:30 AM and 5:00 PM to provide operational coverage, including early morning processing and reporting activities. Some after-hours and weekend support may occasionally be required during system maintenance, upgrades, or operational emergencies.
