WHO WE ARELOOKING FOR

The Office of Strategic Partnerships—DevOps and Server Support Service (DSS) is seeking a highly skilled professional with deep expertise in Oracle Database Administration (DBA) and Linux Administration. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing Oracle database environments, providing technical support, and performing advanced fault isolation across servers, firmware, storage, and related infrastructure. Responsibilities include participating in daily team operations, completing assigned tasks with accuracy and timeliness, delivering clear status updates, and conducting technical research to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions. Key responsibilities include : Install, patch, and configure Oracle database software, including listener setup, TNS configuration, and connection parameters. Troubleshoot complex database issues by analyzing alert logs, trace files, and incident dumps; resolve ORA errors; and work with Oracle Support on SR-based investigations. Monitor and tune database performance using tools such as AWR and STATSPACK, including SQL query optimization, index tuning, memory (SGA/PGA) adjustments, and storage I/O analysis; diagnose waits, locks, and latches. Configure and administer Oracle databases in High Availability (HA) environments, including Nutanix cluster-based deployments. Provide application support by assisting developers with SQL tuning, schema design, PL/SQL deployments, and performance optimization in collaboration with application teams. Manage Virtual Machines in Nutanix clusters, and have additional working knowledge in Nutanix DB (NDB) and integrated data protection for Oracle DB. Install, patch, and configure Linux operating systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux), including kernel tuning, filesystem setup, RAID configuration, and system parameter optimization. Perform system maintenance such as OS patching, kernel and driver updates, security updates, and vulnerability remediation. Manage Linux user access, storage, and filesystem administration, and networking configuration. Monitor and troubleshoot system-level performance issues, address security vulnerabilities, and implement hardening benchmarks. Support enterprise cloud, hybrid cloud, and Nutanix-based architectures. Manage storage and space utilization by monitoring tablespace growth, configuring auto-extend, and optimizing partitions, indexes, and segment storage. The role is critical to the organization, as it administers and supports critical database infrastructure that stores and manages the enterprise database used to support various departments. The responsibilities listed are not limited to the ones below.

Oracle Database Administration:

Install, configure, and administer Oracle Database, including upgrades and security patches. Experience in Storage and space management by monitoring tablespace growth, auto-extend settings, optimizing partitions, indexes, and segment storage.

Monitor and Troubleshoot:

Troubleshooting critical issues and logs handling by analyzing alert logs, trace files, and incident dumps, as well as resolving ORA errors and working with Oracle support for SR-based troubleshooting. Proven ability in Database Performance monitoring and tuning tools such as AWR, STATSPACK, tuning SQL queries, indexes, SGA/PGA memory, and storage IO, diagnosing slow queries, waits, locks, and latches. Proven ability in System monitoring & troubleshooting of issues, including OS performance issues, as well as handling Security vulnerabilities and hardening benchmarks.

DB Application Support:

Expertise in application support by supporting developers with SQL-tuning, schema design, Managing PL/SQL deployments, as well as working with application teams for performance optimization. Knowledge in

Nutanix Cluster:

Preferred if one has Expertise in Nutanix cluster management, cluster configuration, Nutanix hypervisor integrations, and integrated data protection of Oracle database systems. Backing up database using RMAN and Rubrik and restoring the same as required by different team. This includes cloning of databases for multiple environments.

Linux Administration and Support:

Expertise in the installation, patching, and configuration of Linux OS such as RHEL, Oracle Linux, including configuring kernels, filesystems, RAID, and system parameters. Demonstrated expertise in System Maintenance and patching, such as OS patching, kernel updates, driver updates, applying security updates, and vulnerability remediations. Expertise in user and access management, Storage & File system management, and Networking related to Linux systems.

Cloud Support:

Proven ability in Enterprise Cloud / Hybrid Cloud / Nutanix architectures, which will help in eventual migration to cloud in the near future. Work may be required during evenings and weekends based on departmental needs and operational assignments. A criminal background (and credit history) check will be conducted on the selected candidate prior to appointment and will be a significant factor in the hiring decision.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university

Experience :

Five (5) years of experience in Oracle DB Administration and Linux System Administration , and general knowledge in Information Technology.

Equivalency :

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Physical Ability:

Ability to lift boxes containing computer support items and equipment such as printers, computers, modems, and monitors up to 50 pounds.

Medical Protocol:

Experience in vulnerability management and mitigation, applying security updates in Oracle Databases and on Microsoft / CENTOS enterprise servers, and assuring security compliance. Preferred knowledge in Cloud Infrastructure.
