Job Description

Mobile Device & Computer Repair Technician Computer Doctor of Maine | Bangor, Maine Full-Time or Flexible Full-Time | 32-40 Hours Per Week Hourly Pay Based on Experience + Sales Commission Love Technology? Get Paid to Actually Work on It. Computer Doctor of Maine is looking for our next Mobile Device & Computer Repair Technician . We're a local, family-owned independent repair shop serving the Greater Bangor community. We fix smartphones, tablets, Macs, PCs, gaming systems, and other electronics, build custom computers, and sell new and refurbished technology. And we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys this stuff. Maybe you're already repairing phones professionally. Maybe you've worked in technology retail and you're the person everyone comes to when something stops working. Maybe you're a college student who has been building PCs, repairing electronics, upgrading gaming systems, replacing phone screens, experimenting with Raspberry Pis or microcontrollers, or tearing technology apart since you were a kid. If you've got the aptitude, curiosity, and customer skills, we want to hear from you. This Isn't an Assembly-Line Repair Job One hour you might be replacing an iPhone screen. Next you're figuring out why a gaming PC won't POST. Then you're diagnosing a MacBook, upgrading a customer's computer, helping someone choose a refurbished laptop, or tracking down one of those strange problems that "only happens sometimes." That's what makes working at an independent repair shop different. You'll encounter new problems, new devices, and new opportunities to learn constantly. What You'll Be Doing Smartphones & Mobile Devices Repair Apple and Android phones and tablets. Replace screens, batteries, charging ports, back glass, cameras, speakers, and other components. Diagnose mobile hardware and software issues. Properly test devices before and after repairs. Perform careful, organized repairs while protecting customer devices and data. Computers & Electronics Diagnose Windows PC and Mac hardware problems. Replace and upgrade SSDs, memory, batteries, displays, keyboards, cooling components, and other hardware. Troubleshoot operating system, startup, driver, performance, and software problems. Assist with custom gaming and workstation builds. Diagnose the actual cause of a problem rather than simply swapping parts. Customers & Sales We're technicians, but we're also people helping people.
You'll:
Talk directly with customers about their technology problems. Explain solutions without drowning people in technical jargon. Recommend repairs, upgrades, accessories, services, and replacement devices when appropriate. Help customers choose the solution that makes the most sense for them. Earn additional income through sales commissions . We believe good sales means helping someone make the right decision, not pressuring them into buying something they don't need. Own Your Repairs Our technicians take responsibility for their work.
You'll:
Document diagnostics, repairs, recommendations, and customer communication in our repair management system. Keep customers and teammates informed about repair status. Maintain a clean and organized repair area. Help manage repair parts and inventory. Take assigned repairs from diagnosis through completion whenever possible. Who We're Looking For Technical skills matter. But so do curiosity, judgment, communication, and reliability. You'll probably enjoy this job if you're someone who: Has always been the "tech person" among friends or family. Enjoys figuring out how things work. Likes troubleshooting problems other people have given up on. Takes things apart and actually remembers how they go back together. Builds or upgrades computers for fun. Follows new technology, smartphones, gaming hardware, or electronics. Takes pride in clean, detailed work. Can communicate comfortably with people who aren't technically inclined. Likes learning new skills. Can work independently but isn't afraid to ask another technician for a second opinion. Wants your performance and initiative to affect what you earn. ExperienceWe'd Love to
Find Someone With:
1+ year of professional mobile device repair experience. Experience replacing phone screens, batteries, and components. PC and/or Mac hardware repair experience. Retail, technical sales, or customer service experience. But There's Another Path Into This Job We're also interested in candidates with strong demonstrated technical aptitude , even if all of your experience didn't happen in a repair shop.

College coursework in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field. Building and troubleshooting gaming PCs. Smartphone or electronics repair experience outside a traditional repair shop. Electronics projects or maker experience. Microcontroller, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, robotics, or similar projects. IT help desk or technical support experience. Strong technology retail or wireless sales experience. Personal projects demonstrating genuine hands-on technical ability. For the right candidate with strong technical aptitude, customer skills, and the desire to learn, we can provide additional training. Skills That Will Make Us Especially Interested Not required, but definitely tell us if you have experience with: Microsoldering or board-level electronics repair Gaming console repair Custom gaming PCs Mac repair Data recovery Networking Electronics diagnostics Soldering Wireless/mobile device sales Retail technology sales Why Work at Computer Doctor? We're not a giant national chain. We're a family-owned Maine business where individual employees can actually make a difference. You'll get to: Work on a huge variety of technology. Develop real-world troubleshooting skills. Learn advanced repair techniques. Work directly with experienced technicians. Build customer service and sales skills. Earn additional income through performance and commissions. Have your ideas heard. Grow your responsibilities as your skills grow. Become part of a business that's been built around helping our local community. You'll work hard here. You'll also learn a lot, laugh occasionally, probably encounter some truly bizarre technology problems, and have the satisfaction of handing someone back something they thought was dead. Schedule & Compensation 28-40 hours per week Full-time / Flex position Competitive hourly compensation based on experience and demonstrated ability Sales commission opportunities In-person position at our Bangor location For the right college candidate, we are willing to discuss scheduling around an established class schedule while still meeting the needs of the position. How to Apply Submit your resume through Indeed. Don't have the perfect traditional repair resume? Apply anyway. Along with your resume, tell us a little about what you've actually worked on. We'd love to know: What phones, computers, or electronics have you repaired? What kind of PC builds or technology projects have you completed? What's the most difficult technical problem you've solved? What repair can you confidently perform without assistance? What's something technical you'd really like to learn next? If you have photos, a portfolio, GitHub projects, electronics projects, custom builds, or anything else that shows us what you can do, we'd be happy to see it. Come Build Something With Us We're looking for more than someone to fill a bench. We're looking for someone who enjoys technology, takes pride in solving problems, treats customers well, and wants to continue developing their skills. If that sounds like you, we'd like to meet you.
