This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys working directly with researchers and scientists in a collaborative life sciences environment. This role combines traditional help desk support with laboratory technology support, offering exposure to cutting-edge research programs and scientific technologies.
What You'll Do:
IT Help Desk & End User Support Respond to and resolve help desk tickets related to hardware, software, account access, licensing, and system issues Provide onsite support for Mac and Windows users Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, printer, network, and application issues Support end-user services including ticketing systems, remote access tools, and asset management platforms Assist with user account administration and access management Laboratory Technology Support Provide on-site support for laboratory workstations and scientific systems Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory software and hardware Perform routine system health checks and preventive maintenance Support laboratory personnel with day-to-day technical issues Assist with system validation, software updates, and workstation optimization Systems Administration & Maintenance Support macOS, Windows, and associated applications Monitor system performance and address technical vulnerabilities Conduct routine system reboots, updates, and maintenance activities Maintain IT documentation, asset inventories, and support procedures Help ensure system security, data integrity, and backup processes Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field 1-2+ years of IT Help Desk, Desktop Support, or Technical Support experience Experience supporting Windows and macOS environments Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking issues Experience working with ticketing systems and end-user support tools Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities Preferred Qualifications Experience working within a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, laboratory, or life sciences environment Familiarity with laboratory equipment and systems such as: HPLC ddPCR Sartorius systems Scientific instrumentation and laboratory workstations Experience with IT management platforms such as ManageEngine Experience supporting scientific software applications Basic understanding of laboratory IT infrastructure What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: A self-starter who takes initiative Resourceful and proactive when solving problems Comfortable interacting with users at all levels Customer-focused with excellent interpersonal skills Eager to learn and grow within a laboratory technology environment Not afraid to ask questions and seek solutions Schedule & Work Environment Fully onsite in Morrisville, NC Approximately 20 hours per week initially Flexible schedule with preference for onsite coverage 2-3 days per week Potential for increased hours as business needs evolve Hands-on training provided Collaborative and supportive team environment Why Apply?
