Secret or above Position Overview MKS2 Technologies is seeking an experienced IT Field Support Specialist to provide onsite technical support and IT infrastructure assessments for government facilities. This role serves as a critical technical resource responsible for maintaining the health, performance, security, and compliance of end-user devices, conference room technologies, and network infrastructure. The successful candidate will travel between designated government office locations, conduct comprehensive IT wellness checks, support end users, evaluate network performance, and ensure compliance with government IT policies and security requirements. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, exceptional customer service, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic operational environment. Key Responsibilities IT Infrastructure & Systems Support Conduct onsite IT infrastructure assessments and equipment wellness checks. Evaluate network performance and identify issues impacting productivity or connectivity. Assess workstation, printer, peripheral, and communications equipment functionality. Verify system configurations comply with government IT standards and security requirements. Document findings and provide recommendations for improvements. Assist with technology refresh initiatives and hardware replacement activities. End User Support Provide hands-on technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, docking stations, printers, and other peripherals. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues. Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and enterprise applications. Support Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 environments. Assist users with account access, connectivity issues, application support, and device troubleshooting. Ensure end-user devices remain secure, updated, and compliant. Conference Room & Collaboration Technology Support Inspect and test conference room technologies for operational readiness. Troubleshoot audiovisual equipment, displays, video conferencing systems, microphones, speakers, and collaboration platforms. Ensure meeting spaces are functioning properly and ready to support mission-critical operations. Coordinate repairs and replacement of defective collaboration equipment. Network Performance Evaluations Perform network connectivity and performance testing. Analyze bandwidth utilization, wireless coverage, and connection reliability. Assist technical teams in resolving network-related issues. Validate proper operation of switches, wireless access points, and communications equipment. Document observations and recommend corrective actions. IT Asset Management & Equipment Disposal Support government IT asset tracking and inventory accountability efforts. Provide guidance regarding approved IT equipment disposal and decommissioning procedures. Assist in conducting user training related to equipment retirement and disposal requirements. Ensure proper documentation and compliance throughout the equipment lifecycle. Ticketing & Customer Support Assist end users with creating, updating, and tracking IT service tickets. Escalate issues to higher-tier support teams when required. Communicate status updates and expected resolution timelines to customers. Maintain accurate records of support activities and troubleshooting efforts. Deliver outstanding customer service while supporting diverse user populations. Required Qualifications Education Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education, military training, and relevant experience may be considered. Experience 3-7 years of experience in desktop support, field services, IT operations, or help desk environments. Experience troubleshooting Windows workstations and enterprise software applications. Experience supporting network connectivity and peripheral devices. Experience supporting conference room and audiovisual technologies. Experience working in a government or highly regulated environment preferred. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision. Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently. Additional Requirements Ability to travel between government office locations as required. Valid driver's license. Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
