  • $105,000 | Active Secret Clearance Required Support mission-critical infrastructure within the Distributed Mission Operations Center by serving as the primary administrator responsible for vulnerability management, system hardening, and cybersecurity compliance across classified Windows and Linux environments.
This role combines hands-on systems administration with proactive vulnerability remediation to ensure operational readiness, cybersecurity compliance, and system availability supporting Air Force distributed mission operations. A Day in the Life
  • What you'll do Lead vulnerability management activities across DMOC infrastructure, ensuring Windows and Linux systems remain compliant with Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements.
Perform vulnerability analysis, remediation, and validation activities across NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments to maintain operational accreditation and mission readiness. Implement and maintain DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) across enterprise Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems. Administer Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, DHCP, and domain services supporting classified enterprise networks. Manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers including system configuration, patching, hardening, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting. Apply operating system, application, firmware, and security patches in accordance with organizational change management and cybersecurity policies. Perform system hardening, security configuration validation, and compliance assessments using approved DoD security standards and best practices. Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and engineering teams to identify security gaps, develop remediation strategies, and improve enterprise security posture. Utilize vulnerability scanning results to prioritize remediation efforts while minimizing operational impact to mission systems. Develop technical documentation including standard operating procedures, remediation guides, system configurations, and cybersecurity compliance documentation. Support VMware virtualized infrastructure including ESXi hosts and vCenter administration as required. Develop automation scripts utilizing PowerShell, Bash, and Python to streamline system administration, compliance monitoring, and repetitive operational tasks. Provide Tier II Help Desk support for infrastructure-related incidents, user requests, and operational issues when not actively engaged in vulnerability management activities. Participate in troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues spanning Windows, Linux, virtualization, storage, networking, and security technologies. Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations activities to ensure mission-critical infrastructure availability. Participate in technical reviews, cybersecurity audits, inspections, and engineering initiatives supporting continuous improvement across the DMOC enterprise. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent military or industry experience may be considered. 4+ years of systems administration experience supporting enterprise Windows and Linux environments. Extensive experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and domain services. Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems within enterprise or classified environments. Experience performing operating system patching, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and security compliance activities. Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows, Linux, enterprise infrastructure, and hybrid computing environments. Experience supporting cybersecurity compliance initiatives within Department of Defense or highly regulated enterprise environments. Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop technical documentation and operational procedures. Active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain clearance requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience administering VMware ESXi, vCenter, and virtualized enterprise infrastructure. Experience implementing and maintaining DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). Experience using enterprise vulnerability management platforms and patch management solutions. Proficiency with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other scripting languages used for systems administration and automation. Experience supporting enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and data protection solutions. Experience administering hybrid Windows and Linux environments within classified NIPRNet and SIPRNet networks. Familiarity with
ACAS, SCAP
Compliance Checker, SCCM, WSUS, Ansible, or comparable enterprise management tools. Experience supporting Air Force, Department of Defense, or Distributed Mission Operations environments. Security certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CISSP, Linux+, RHCSA, or equivalent.
