BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Information Technology Specialist I will be responsible for Help Desk functions for computers, email, Internet access, applications, printers, copiers, scanning services, phones, audio/visual equipment, and other computer related hardware and software. Job will require troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques. Employee is responsible to maintain computers and peripheral equipment connected to Eddy County's diverse network. Employee must keep confidential all secured and sensitive information revealed. Employee must be trustworthy, self-motivated, have a keen attention to detail, and have good customer service skills.

Minimum qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED; two years of experience with computer systems troubleshooting; four years of experience with Windows platforms; must possess a valid NM driver's license and be insurable, with no DWI convictions and no more than two moving violations in the past three years; no illegal drug use within the past three years; the ability to understand and communicate in English, verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, respond to call back requests, attend job related meetings and training. Employee will be required to perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED required. Technical Degree from an accredited school and/or CompTIA, A+, Security+ or Network+ certifications preferred. Two or more years of experience with computer systems troubleshooting required. Education in lieu of work experience will be considered. Bachelor's degree equivalencies 4 years work experience. Associate's degree equivalencies 2 years work experience. Must successfully pass criminal and employment background investigations. Eligibility to work in the U. S. verified thru E-Verify. All job offers are contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Must have, or ability to obtain, a current valid NM driver's license and be insurable by the County Insurance Authority.

MUST PROVIDE CURRENT DRIVING RECORD.

Effective oral and written communication skills in English required. Ability to analyze and accurately interpret various reports and complex information. Four or more years' experience with Windows platforms required. Must have a working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN and WAN. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. Must have a working knowledge of Active Directory users and computers, and Exchange Server. The ability to protect the network and data using security best practices. The ability to work well with County IT staff, network users, and the public in a pleasant and professional manner. Ability to work independently and also as a part of a team. A strong diagnostic ability and critical thinking using a logical and methodical approach to problem solving. Possess the ability to maintain a high level of concentration in the performance of duties that are repetitive with a degree of speed and accuracy. Be self-motivated, have keen attention to detail, and have the ability to prioritize work to meet Eddy County Deadlines. Must be able to recognize, work with and maintain confidential information.
