Why does the job exist? The job exists to provide technical and hardware support to the NMCD end user community. The position is part of the workstation group and will work with end users to resolve mid and higher tier technical and hardware problems. How does it get done? The job gets done by performing as an IT Support Technician in charge of configuring existing and new computer and laptop equipment as well as troubleshooting and repairing existing equipment. The position troubleshoots and resolves Level I and II technical issues in person, via email, via phone, and/or remotely. The position will also be responsible for performing software installations and configurations to meet end user needs and for the deployment and refreshing of computer equipment throughout the agency. Who are the customers? The position provides support to the New Mexico Corrections Department Staff which consists of the Adult Prisons Division, Probation and Parole Division, Administrative Services Division, and the Adult Parole Board. This position will support staff that are working onsite and teleworking remotely. Ideal Candidate The position provides support to the New Mexico Corrections Department Staff which consists of the Adult Prisons Division, Probation and Parole Division, Administrative Services Division, and the Adult Parole Board. Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of related work experience in providing technical support to end users for computer hardware, software, and/or network-related problems. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates.
