Job Description

About IPS Intelligent Product Solutions is a product design and engineering firm in Hauppauge. Clients bring us an idea and we take it through industrial design, mechanical, electrical, embedded, and software engineering to a finished product. Our work spans medical devices, defense, wearables, consumer electronics, and enterprise systems. IntelligentCloudCare is our IT services division. We run IPS's own infrastructure and deliver managed IT for a portfolio of client companies. The role We're hiring a Level 1 IT Support Technician to join a small IT team. You'll be the first point of contact for support requests across IPS and our managed clients — resolving tickets, building and deploying endpoints, and escalating what needs escalating. This is a hands-on role with unusual range. Because the team is small, you'll get exposure to identity management, networking, virtualization, and security that you wouldn't get in a siloed help desk at a larger company. We expect you to grow into more, and we'll invest in getting you there. What you'll do Respond to and resolve support tickets for IPS staff and managed service clients Build, image, and deploy Windows laptops and workstations; support macOS where needed Handle user account administration in Active Directory and Microsoft 365 Troubleshoot hardware, software, printing, connectivity, and peripheral issues Support conference room and A/V equipment Maintain accurate ticket documentation and contribute to internal knowledge base articles Assist with onboarding and offboarding — device prep, account setup, access removal Escalate complex issues with clear detail on what you've already tried Work on-site at client offices when needed What we're looking for Strong troubleshooting instincts and the discipline to work a problem methodically rather than guessing Clear, patient communication with non-technical people — most of this job is talking to users Working knowledge of Windows 10 and 11 Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and the Office applications Basic understanding of networking fundamentals — IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VPN Reliability and follow-through. If you say you'll get back to someone, you do Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional client visits Ability to lift and move computer equipment Nice to have CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ Any hands-on experience with Active Directory, Entra ID, or an RMM platform Exposure to ticketing systems such as Jira Service Management PowerShell or scripting of any kind Prior help desk, MSP, or internship experience An associate's or bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, or a related field We'll consider strong candidates without certifications or formal experience. If you've built a home lab, fixed every computer in your family, or taught yourself this because you found it interesting, tell us about it. Why work here Small team, real ownership, and no layers between you and the work. You'll see how a product engineering firm actually operates, and you'll touch a wider range of systems than a Level 1 role usually allows. We support certification and training for people who want to move up. Intelligent Product Solutions is an equal opportunity employer.
