IAT Level II Full Job Description Position Summary:
Odyssey Systems has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Information Technology Specialist supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Systems Technology Office (STO). AFRL STO's mission is to deliver war winning air and space capabilities, to the United States Air Force, though research and development.Responsibilities:
Duties include, but not limited to: Install software program packages. Program and maintain various information processing applications. Analyze, design, purchase and install information security systems. Provide support to telecommunications efforts associated with security systems. Proactively address issues and take action to guide IT support personnel to preclude system failures or disruption. Plan and assist with major technology assignments across multiple networks. Function as technical expert across multiple project assignments Provide technical support to prevent system outages, minimize downtime or denial of/degraded service. Provide skilled technical assistance in the configuration, operation and management of secure video teleconferencing equipment Manage hardware and software by performing configuration management and initial diagnostics of information systems Coordinate and document information systems repairs and perform system diagnostics to determine the cause of hardware and software failures Remove and replace components and peripherals to restore system operation. Install and configure software operating systems and applications and provide customer service to assist in the operation, restoration, and configuration of information systems Conduct inventory of computer hardware and software and ensure STO personnel adhere to all software licensing agreements Assist with the maintenance of the organization's COMSEC account, in accordance with Government instruction and requirements Conduct self-inspections of COMSEC account and inventory COMSEC material, as required. Support the Government's Configuration Control Board (CCB) Serve as the System Administrator for classified Local Area Networks (LAN). Responsible for diagnosing and resolving computer and network related problems and reporting issues to customers and vendors alike Perform system backups, apply operating system updates, software security patches, make configuration changes, and create, maintain and delete user accounts Make group policy changes, install and configure hardware and software, compile records and reports concerning all network operations and maintenance, in accordance with Government approved procedures Provide input to discussions regarding information system standards and budget constraints Design and configure hardware, software, operating systems and other platform specifications and develop/maintain an organizational configuration management plan Utilize software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose problems and factors affecting classified and unclassified network and standalone system performance Update security databases and recommend functional changes or modifications for improved processing, operations, and customer support Enforce approved Standard Operating Procedures and Information Assurance Standard Operating Procedures and provide technical assistance to the Government Security Officer Analyze, design, conduct market research and assist in the purchasing process Implement and maintain the policies and goals for the IT department to support the Government's needs Research and recommend the selection of IT equipment, applications, and supplies. Ensure that project milestones/goals are met, adhering to approved budgets Ensuring the timely process through which user problems are resolved; to include problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-upQualifications:
