Job Description

The City of Westerville is seeking a motivated and tech-savvy IT Helpdesk Intern to join our Information Technology Helpdesk team. In this role, you will provide essential technical support to city employees, gaining hands-on experience in a wide range of IT areas. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and build a foundation for a successful career in technology. Work will be performed under the general direction and supervision from the Incident Manager with daily oversight from a Helpdesk Support Analyst.
Helpdesk Support:
Provide first-level technical assistance to city employees, addressing issues related to account access, hardware, software, and basic networking.
Troubleshooting:
Assist in diagnosing and resolving technical problems, escalating complex issues to I&O Engineers as needed.
Customer Service:
Deliver excellent customer service to internal clients, communicating clearly and effectively to resolve technical issues.
Documentation:
Assist in maintaining accurate records of helpdesk interactions and solutions.
Learning & Development:
Actively participate in training sessions and shadowing opportunities to expand your IT knowledge and skills.
Education:
Actively pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Skills:
Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts. Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Experience:
Prior experience in a customer service or technical support role is preferred.
