The right candidate will be loved by clients, respected by crew members and feared by disorganization. We value strong technical judgment, clear communication, reliable follow-through and a collaborative attitude. Proven technicians can be assigned primarily technical work; all crew members help with front-counter and phone coverage when needed. Experienced housecall technicians and applicants with management experience are also welcome. This is a year-round opportunity; part-time and full-time schedules are considered. Weekly hours and duties will be agreed before hiring, based on your capabilities and overall staffing. Workdays are Monday - Saturday; Tuesday through Thursday is especially helpful. We strongly prefer a 9:30 AM start time. We may hire one person who combines technical and customer-service duties, or separate people for those roles. A combined role includes three front-counter days per week, with additional hours dedicated to technical or business-development work. Applicants interested in contributing to team leadership or business operations are welcome; responsibilities will reflect demonstrated ability and shop needs. We are entering our busy season, so an early start date is preferred.
Responsibilities Repair with precision:
diagnose and repair client Macs (displays, batteries, keyboards, trackpads, storage, logic board replacements), document findings and repairs clearly in our repair management system, present technical findings to clients in plain language Serve the team: evaluate, repair and prepare resale Macs from our refurbishment queue, harvest and organize parts, evaluate & test trade-in candidates, support front-counter and phone coverage when needed, proactively identify issues, contribute positivity to a happy workplace Grow your knowledge: stay current on Apple hardware and repair techniques; deepen your skills in diagnosis, repair and technical support Expand your role (as time and ability allows): take on board-level repair or housecalls within your demonstrated specialties, mentor and train crew members, streamline procedures, take on administrative and operational responsibilities, assist the Owner on cross-functional projects, contribute your unique skills, support team leadership Requirements Professional Mac diagnosis and repair experience, with the ability to complete routine repairs independently Patience, empathy, kindness and respect for customers and coworkers, including during busy periods Friendly, fun, energetic & positive attitude Excellent organization, attention to detail, clear and concise repair notes, and compliance with company procedures Initiative to find useful work between customers and assigned tasks Punctuality & reliability A trustworthy record of handling customer equipment and confidential customer information Willingness to offer & ask for help, follow written instructions, and apply written feedback constructively Capacity to understand and simply communicate technical information Additional Beneficial Skills Logic-board diagnosis and micro-soldering experience (strong accelerator) Apple certification (ACMT or similar) Housecall experience supporting Macs, migrations, backups, Wi-Fi, printers or small-business systems; management, team leadership or service-business experience; customer service or retail experience Ability to walk, bike, bus, carpool to work (parking not provided; partial subsidy available) About mac tonic Conveniently located on 13th & Oak in Eugene, mac tonic is the highest rated, locally-owned Macintosh service provider between Portland and San Francisco.
