Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
The IT Specialist will respond to technical support requests, configure computers and user accounts, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and assist the IT team with maintaining a secure and reliable technology environment.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide technical support to employees for computers, software, printers, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network connectivity, and user account issues.
  • Set up and configure laptops, desktops, monitors, printers, and other equipment for new and existing employees.
  • Install, configure, and update operating systems and business applications.
  • Create, modify, and disable user accounts and assist with password and access-related requests.
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and OneDrive.
  • Document technical issues, solutions, equipment assignments, and support requests.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for computers and other IT assets.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding technology requirements.
  • Perform routine software updates, system maintenance, and basic security checks.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff or outside vendors when necessary.
  • Follow company IT policies, cybersecurity procedures, and data protection practices.
  • Assist with IT projects and technology deployments as needed.
  • Provide friendly, professional, and timely customer service to employees.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance in accordance with company policies.
  • All other duties assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree or technical training in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 0-2 years of IT support, help desk, technical support, or related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows computers and common business applications.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, networking, Wi-Fi, printers, and peripherals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new technology and technical processes quickly.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with help desk or ticketing systems.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, or similar user-management platforms.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts such as multi-factor authentication, phishing prevention, and endpoint security.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or similar entry-level IT certification is a plus but not required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment:
  • Typically operates in an office environment, though some positions may involve remote work or on-site visits.
  • Often works at a desk or workstation, using computers and other IT equipment.
  • Will collaborate with colleagues and clients both in-person and remotely.
  • Environment can range from quiet office settings to more dynamic spaces, especially in tech-oriented companies.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move computers, monitors, printers, and other IT equipment.
  • Ability to access workstations and technology equipment throughout the workplace.
