Job Description
Technical Support Specialist I - Commander Systems Position Summary The Technical Support Specialist I - Commander Systems is responsible for the day-to-day administration, configuration, support, and maintenance of OmniWarn's Commander and CommanderOne platforms. This role works directly with customers to build, configure, and support warning systems while ensuring each deployment remains reliable and operational. In addition to supporting the Commander platform, this position provides remote computer support, prepares deployment workstations, and assists with internal IT operations. The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting, has strong computer skills, and is eager to become an expert in public safety warning systems. Primary ResponsibilitiesCommander Platform Administration Configure and maintain Commander and CommanderOne systems. Create and manage customer organizations and system configurations. Build and maintain messaging templates. Configure activation macros and automation workflows. Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and security roles. Configure notification groups, contacts, and distribution lists. Assist with system commissioning and customer onboarding. Perform software updates and system maintenance. Monitor system health and resolve software issues. Document customer configurations and maintain accurate records. Work closely with Engineering and Project Management during deployments. Provide ongoing customer support for all Commander-related functions. Customer Technical Support Provide remote technical support for Commander and CommanderOne. Troubleshoot software, hardware, and connectivity issues. Support customer computers used to operate Commander. Configure remote access solutions. Escalate advanced issues when necessary while documenting findings. Computer Deployment & Administration Image, configure, and prepare Windows computers for deployment. Install and configure Commander software. Create Windows user accounts and configure local security settings. Install software updates and drivers. Configure Microsoft 365 applications. Verify deployment computers meet OmniWarn standards before shipment. Internal IT Support Support OmniWarn employee computers and peripherals. Be the liaison between Summit technology and OmniWarn Assist with Microsoft 365 administration. Maintain IT inventory and deployment equipment. Prepare computers for new employees. Assist with general network and technology support. Required Qualifications Strong understanding of Windows 10 and Windows 11. Basic familiarity with macOS. Proficient with Microsoft 365, including Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and remote connectivity. Experience imaging and deploying Windows computers. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to learn complex software platforms quickly. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Experience with remote desktop and remote support tools. Experience managing Windows user accounts. Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID or Active Directory. Basic understanding of cybersecurity best practices. Experience supporting enterprise software applications. Performance Expectations Within the first six months, the Technical Support Specialist should be able to independently: Configure complete Commander and CommanderOne systems. Build messaging templates and activation macros. Create and manage user accounts and permissions. Deploy and configure customer workstations. Resolve most of software support requests without assistance. Maintain accurate documentation and support records. Deliver professional technical support that reflects OmniWarn's customer service standards.
