Job Description

The Digital Media Producer & Content Coordinator reports to the Communications Director and produces, coordinates, and distributes digital media and communications that support the City of Spring Hill's programs, services, and community engagement efforts. This position creates photography, videography, graphics, and digital content for City communications and provides communications support to departments across the city. Working under the direction of the Communications Director, the Digital Media Producer & Content Coordinator will work with communicators across the city to create and coordinate content for a variety of platforms. The position will assist with multimedia campaigns, public information efforts, and day-to-day communications needs. The position will also support the Communications Director with media relations, emergency communications, and special projects as assigned. Multimedia Production & Storytelling Plan, produce, edit, and publish professional multimedia content including photography, videography, and digital storytelling. Capture and edit photography and video for City events, meetings, parks, public safety, economic development, and municipal operations. Pitch, create and produce promotional videos, employee features, infrastructure updates, community spotlights, and public service announcements. Coordinate livestream production and multimedia coverage of board meetings, special events, and public announcements. Content Development Implement digital communications projects across City Departments. Translate complex information to engaging public messaging. Write and edit social media posts, website content, newsletters, and other public communications. Support emergency communications and public information efforts as directed Digital Media & Communications Support Maintain an editorial and production calendar for digital media and social media content. Contribute to the City's social media presence by scheduling content and responding to inquiries as appropriate. Visual & Digital Communications Create graphics and other visual assets for digital and print communications. Update website content using the City's content management system and ensure digital accessibility standards are met. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Stay current on digital media tools, platforms, and production practices to support effective City communication Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a closely related field; and Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in digital communications, social media management, public relations, marketing, or multimedia production; or Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Successful Job Performance:
Knowledge of:
Social media platforms, trends, and analytics. Photography, videography, lighting, and audio production. Graphic design, typography principles, and branding standards. Website content management systems. AP Style writing and editing. Public information and government communications practices. Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based collaboration tools.
Skill in:
Photography and video production. Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, After Effects, InDesign), Canva, or comparable creative software. Creating engaging digital content for diverse audiences. Writing clear, concise, and accurate communications. Managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Building positive working relationships with employees, elected officials, and the public.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Exercise sound judgment and professionalism. Work independently while managing competing priorities. Adapt quickly to changing communication needs. Maintain confidentiality when appropriate.
Additional Requirements:
Valid driver's license. Successful completion of a background screen. Work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to support City meetings, events, or emergency communications.
Physical Requirements :
Work is performed primarily in an office environment with frequent travel throughout the City for photography, videography, meetings, and special events. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, lifting equipment up to 25 pounds, and operating cameras, computers, and audiovisual equipment.
