This is a broad, hands-on IT position ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working directly with users, and taking ownership of technical issues from the initial request through resolution. The IT Support Specialist will provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for computers, user accounts, Microsoft 365, printers, phones, network connectivity, applications, access management, equipment deployment, and other technology used throughout the organization. The successful candidate must be customer-service oriented, organized, security-conscious, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Healthcare IT experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with solid general IT support experience are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Help Desk & Technical Support Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to employees, providers, clinical staff, and leadership. Respond to help desk tickets, phone calls, emails, and onsite support requests. Troubleshoot hardware, software, login, connectivity, printer, scanner, peripheral, and workstation issues. Diagnose technical problems independently and escalate issues when appropriate. Follow IT requests through completion while keeping users informed of status. Provide excellent customer service to technical and non-technical users. Desktop & Hardware Support Install, configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and peripherals. Prepare and configure computers and equipment for new employees. Troubleshoot Windows workstations and commonly used business applications. Configure and support printers, scanners, label printers, and other clinical and administrative equipment. Coordinate equipment repairs, replacements, warranties, and vendor service when necessary. Move, install, and transport IT equipment between departments and facilities. User Accounts & Access Create, modify, and disable user accounts according to established procedures. Assist with Microsoft 365, email, password resets, MFA, remote access, and other account-related issues. Assist with employee onboarding, transfers, and offboarding. Ensure user access and permissions are appropriate for job responsibilities. Follow organizational access-control and security procedures. Healthcare IT Support Provide technical support for users of electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) and other healthcare applications. Troubleshoot application access and technical issues and escalate application-specific problems when necessary. Support clinical and administrative technology used throughout hospital and healthcare facilities. Maintain awareness of HIPAA privacy and security requirements. Protect confidential company and patient information while performing IT duties. Network & Communication Support Troubleshoot basic network and connectivity issues. Assist with Wi-Fi, internet, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and basic TCP/IP troubleshooting. Support office phones, VoIP systems, conference room technology, and communication systems. Coordinate advanced network, internet, phone, and application issues with vendors or senior IT staff. Asset & Inventory Management Maintain accurate inventory of computers, laptops, monitors, mobile devices, printers, software, and other IT assets. Prepare, issue, recover, and document company equipment. Maintain accurate asset assignments for employees and departments. Assist with equipment refreshes, replacements, office moves, and technology deployments. Security & Documentation Follow company cybersecurity and information-security policies. Assist with endpoint protection, software updates, phishing awareness, MFA, and access-control practices. Identify and report suspicious activity or potential security incidents. Maintain IT documentation, procedures, troubleshooting information, and equipment records. Follow HIPAA-related security and privacy practices. Projects & Facility Support Provide onsite IT support at BMC Hospitals and affiliated facilities as needed. Travel between facilities based on business and IT support requirements. Assist with office moves, new facility openings, equipment deployments, system implementations, and technology projects. Work with third-party vendors, software providers, internet providers, and technical support teams. Perform other IT-related duties as assigned by the IT Director. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. Hands-on experience in Help Desk, Desktop Support, IT Support, Technical Support, or a similar IT position. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and common business applications. Experience troubleshooting computers, printers, scanners, and peripheral devices. Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, and VPN. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Willingness to travel between BMC Hospitals and affiliated facilities. Willingness to participate in an on-call support rotation . Ability to lift and move IT equipment weighing up to approximately 40 pounds . Preferred 2-3+ years of hands-on IT support experience. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Previous experience working in a hospital, physician practice, clinic, senior living facility, or other healthcare environment. Experience with EMR/EHR systems. Familiarity with HIPAA privacy and security requirements. Experience with Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID. Experience supporting Microsoft 365. Experience with ticketing/help desk systems. Experience with remote support and device-management tools. Experience supporting VoIP/phone systems. Basic understanding of switches, firewalls, wireless networks, and VLANs. Compensation $18.00 - $22.00 per hour , depending on experience, technical skills, certifications, and healthcare IT experience.
