ABOUT APEX PHARMACY SOLUTIONS
Apex Pharmacy Solutions (APS) is a Texas 503A sterile compounding pharmacy based in Spring, TX, specializing in hormone optimization, longevity, and performance compounded medicine. As APS scales its compounding operations and patient volume, our Information Technology team keeps the systems behind every prescription — from order intake to sterile fulfillment to shipping — running securely and reliably.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The IT Specialist III is a senior, hands-on technical role responsible for advanced end-user support, systems administration, and security operations across APS's corporate and compounding-facility environments. This position serves as the escalation point for complex technical issues, administers core business and pharmacy systems, and helps implement the technical safeguards required in a regulated, HIPAA-governed pharmacy setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Systems & Desktop Support Serve as the senior escalation point for hardware, software, and connectivity issues across corporate and compounding-facility workstations, including packing-station equipment (all-in-one computers, Zebra label printers, barcode scanners). Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues that front-line support cannot; document root cause and resolution. Image, configure, and deploy new workstations and peripherals; manage the technology asset inventory and equipment lifecycle. Pharmacy & Business Systems Administration Administer user accounts, permissions, and access for core business and pharmacy systems, including LifeFile, Compounding360, EdgeX, and Microsoft 365/OneDrive, under the direction of the Director of IT. Support system upgrades, integrations, and vendor-led implementations; coordinate with software vendors on tickets and change requests. Maintain documentation for system configurations, access permissions, and standard operating procedures. Network, Security & Compliance Implement and maintain technical safeguards required under HIPAA, including access controls, multi-factor authentication, encryption, endpoint protection, and audit logging across systems handling protected health information. Monitor backup jobs and periodically test restore procedures; escalate failures promptly. Apply security patches and updates on a regular cadence; support network segmentation between compounding equipment, dispensing systems, and general office/guest access. Identity & Collaboration Systems Administer Microsoft 365 and Active Directory /
Entra ID:
account provisioning and deprovisioning, group policy, mailbox and license management. Support collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) and troubleshoot access or sync issues for end users. Documentation & Process Improvement Maintain a knowledge base of troubleshooting procedures and common resolutions for the support team. Track and manage tickets through resolution using the department's ticketing system; identify recurring issues and recommend process or system improvements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Four (4) or more years of progressive IT support and systems administration experience. Strong working knowledge of Windows and macOS environments, Microsoft 365 administration, and core networking concepts. Experience administering Active Directory or Entra ID, including account provisioning and group policy. Familiarity with endpoint security tools, backup and disaster-recovery practices, and patch management. Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff. Ability to work on-site in a regulated pharmacy environment and to prioritize multiple concurrent support requests.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification, or an equivalent Microsoft 365 / Azure certification. Experience supporting a healthcare, pharmacy, or other HIPAA-regulated environment. Familiarity with pharmacy or compounding software (e.g., LifeFile, Compounding360, EdgeX) or similar order-management/EHR platforms. Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior IT support staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is an on-site position based at APS's Spring, TX compounding facility and corporate headquarters. The role may require occasional presence in or near the sterile compounding environment to support facility technology and equipment, in accordance with APS safety and gowning requirements.
