Job Description

IT Technician /
Specialist Pay:
$25.00 - $32.00 per hour Job description: Central Storage & Warehouse (CSW) is a regional leader in cold storage warehousing, operating five facilities across Wisconsin — Caledonia (HQ), Kenosha, Madison, Eau Claire, and Wisconsin Rapids. We keep the food supply chain moving for the customers who depend on us, and we're growing fast — adding facilities, capacity, and capabilities year over year. That pace means the business is always evolving, and behind it is a technology organization punching well above its weight: a small, competent IT team building real integrations, real automation, and real AI tools that touch every part of the business. CSW is hiring an IT Technician / Specialist to join our five-person IT Team, reporting to the Director of Technology. This is a hands-on, first-response role supporting end users and on-site systems across our Wisconsin facilities — Caledonia, Kenosha, Madison, Eau Claire, and Wisconsin Rapids. You'll resolve hardware, network, and account issues at the point of need and make sure every request gets closed out, not just chased. You'll work as a genuine second set of hands alongside our current IT Technician / Specialist — a shared queue, shared sites, and shared accountability for the backlog — while building toward taking on more independently over time.
Responsibilities include:
Culture & Team:
Carry CSW's people-first, service-oriented values into every ticket and every site visit Work alongside the other IT Technician / Specialist as a shared queue and shared accountability for the backlog, not a separate lane of work Escalate cleanly — know when an issue needs the Director, the WMS Specialist Team, or a vendor, and hand it off with context
Hands-On End User & Device Support:
Diagnose and resolve workstation, laptop, printer, and mobile-device issues from the Help Desk queue, on-site whenever a remote fix isn't enough Provision, image, and retire computers, RF scanners (Zebra MC-series), and handheld devices, including SOTI/Device Guardian enrollment and de-enrollment Manage user accounts end to end: new-hire setup, access changes, terminations, and password/MFA resets in Microsoft 365 / Entra ID Support badge, camera (ENVR), PA, VOIP (Nextiva), and paging systems at each site
Site & Network Ownership:
Maintain a weekly in-person presence at Caledonia and Kenosha; visit one of Madison, Eau Claire, or Wisconsin Rapids roughly every other week on a rotating basis, with remote support covering those sites in between Perform first-line troubleshooting on network drops, switches, and wireless coverage gaps on the floor, escalating only what genuinely needs it Flag aging or at-risk hardware before it fails Identify, scope, purchase, configure, and install access points, switches, and related network equipment as sites need it
Ticket Discipline & Documentation:
Manage the Help Desk queue day to day: triage and assign tickets, field roughly half of non-delegated support requests directly, and stay accountable for following up on every ticket until it's actually closed Keep every ticket's status current in Front and reflect real project/task work on the IT Team Kanban board Participate in the daily Critical 3 — three concrete priorities for the day, reviewed and closed out Document fixes for recurring issues (scanner drops, printer queues, portal access patterns) so they stop being tickets at all
Growth & Cross-Training:
Build working proficiency in Datex/FootPrint WMS support basics so routine WMS access and printing issues don't have to route to the WMS Specialist Team Cross-train with the IT Technician / Specialist on each other's site strengths so coverage doesn't collapse when one person is out Take on AI-adoption and automation pilot tasks as CSW's IT team expands its use of these tools Help lead CSW's cybersecurity awareness and training efforts
IT Equipment Purchasing:
Identify and maintain relationships with hardware vendors for laptops, desktops, monitors, and peripherals, keeping an eye on pricing and lead times Scope and purchase equipment for new hires, replacements, and site needs, matching requests to CSW's standard specs Track equipment through its lifecycle — from purchase to retirement — so aging hardware gets replaced proactively
Requirements:
1-3 years of hands-on IT support experience (help desk, field tech, or similar) Working knowledge of Windows imaging/deployment, Microsoft 365, and Entra ID user administration Comfortable with intermediate network troubleshooting (switches, Wi-Fi, cabling) at a first-response level Valid driver's license and willingness to travel routinely among CSW's five Wisconsin sites Able to lift/move IT equipment and work on a warehouse floor, including cold-storage environments
Preferred:
Familiarity with ticketing/helpdesk tools (Front or comparable) Experience with mobile device management (SOTI, Zebra Device Guardian) and RF/scanner hardware Cisco/Meraki console and configuration experience — VLANs, RADIUS, edge devices, and fail-over connections Exposure to a WMS platform (Datex/FootPrint or similar), or previous warehousing experience Interest in AI-assisted IT tooling and process automation
Benefits:
  • Medical and dental insurance
  • Paid time off
  • 401(k) with 4% company match, effective immediately
  • Profit sharing of 7% of salary, beginning after one year of service
Job Type:
Full-time Schedule:
Day shift Monday to Friday Onsite, non-exempt
Experience:
IT support (help desk, field tech, or similar): 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
Driver's License (Required) Ability to
Travel:
Routine travel among Caledonia, Kenosha, Madison, Eau Claire, and Wisconsin Rapids, WI (Required)
Work Location:
In person — based at Caledonia HQ, with regular travel to CSW's Wisconsin facilities A Rare Opportunity Most warehousing companies our size run lean, legacy IT. CSW is different — we're actively building and deploying AI-driven automation, modernizing EDI and trading-partner integrations, and extending our warehouse management platform, often with tools built in-house. The work is genuinely varied and hands-on: one day you're troubleshooting a mobile device on-site, the next you're redesigning a network layout at one of our facilities. You won't be siloed into one narrow lane — you'll see the whole stack, from the warehouse floor to the systems behind it. Our IT team is small by design, so your contributions are visible and your ideas get built. You'll work directly alongside experienced teammates across networking, WMS, and EDI, with real mentorship and leadership that's accessible and invested in your growth. Our footprint spans five Wisconsin communities — Caledonia (HQ), Kenosha, Madison, Eau Claire, and Wisconsin Rapids — giving the work variety and roots in the communities we serve. If you want a career that's technical, dynamic, and never boring — where you're solving real problems for a company actually investing in modern technology and AI — CSW is where that happens.
