The Apple News Operations team is looking for a strong engineer to build and maintain the internal tools and automation systems that power our operational workflows. As part of this role, you will also serve as a technical resource for publishers, helping them integrate with and get the most out of the platform. Description The Apple News Operations team is seeking a Technical Operations Engineer to build and maintain the full-stack applications and data tools that internal teams depend on. You will apply AI-assisted development practices to ship faster and document better. You will also provide technical guidance to publishers, helping them navigate platform capabilities and troubleshoot integration issues. This role is a strong fit for someone who is comfortable moving between technical problem-solving and partner-facing communication. Responsibilities Build and own full-stack internal applications that directly accelerate Apple News operational workflows and reduce manual effort at scale. Design data tools that surface actionable insights, enabling internal teams to make faster, evidence-backed decisions. Drive end-to-end automation of repeatable operational processes, partnering with cross-functional teams to ship solutions. Integrate AI-assisted development practices into the team's build cycle, measurably compressing delivery and debugging timelines. Triage and resolve publisher-reported technical issues. Minimum Qualifications 2 to 4 years in software engineering or technical operations, with shipped internal tooling or automation systems as evidence. Solid Python proficiency applied to scripting, automation, or backend services. Hands-on experience designing and optimizing both SQL and NoSQL databases. Experience with React and related frontend technologies. Ability to analyze data and build solutions that drive actionable insights. Familiarity and deep interest in applying AI to enhance tooling and productivity. Preferred Qualifications Experience presenting technical architecture or recommendations to varied audiences, including non-engineers. Strong debugging and triage skills, with security-conscious engineering instincts demonstrated through code review practices and data handling decisions. Experience working directly with external partners in a technical capacity. Familiarity with media, publishing, or digital content platforms, with working knowledge of how content pipelines and publisher ecosystems operate. Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $225,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
