DESCRIPTION

As a Software Development Engineer III at AWS Cloudscape team, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of software systems that directly impact builders community at AWS. You will own your team's architectural direction, balance competing constraints, and drive technical decisions that shape the future of the products you build. This role goes beyond writing code — you will mentor engineers, influence technical strategy across teams, and ensure the software your team delivers is well-designed, performant, and secure. Key job responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of multi-feature software systems across the full development lifecycle, from defining technical strategy through deployment and operational excellence. Own your team's architectural direction by evaluating tradeoffs in scalability, maintainability, performance, and security, and guide future technology choices that align with broader organizational goals. Collaborate with engineers across related teams to ensure cohesive system integration, driving alignment through inclusive technical discussions and written design artifacts. Mentor and coach multiple engineers on your team and beyond, raising the engineering bar through exemplary coding practices, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. Apply generative artificial intelligence tools and techniques where appropriate to improve development workflows, and champion responsible, well-tested approaches to new technology adoption. Influence product roadmap A day in the life Engage the AWS builders community and stakeholders in the various Cloudscape organization to simplify the intent based UX experience development for AWS Management Console builders. Review critical CRs and mentor others on the team. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to do design review and review the design/architecture produced by engineers on the same team. Review operational metrics and alarms to ensure your team's services are healthy. You will play a key role in shaping the direction of the own team and partner teams. Our team builds Cloudscape- the AWS Design System and Cora builder experience for AWS UX builders community.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering teamPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
