Expert Cloud Platform Architect V (Hybrid Cloud & Infrastructure Automation) Role Overview We are seeking an expert, hands-on, and visionary Expert Cloud Platform Architect V to join our Hybrid Cloud Platform team. In this role, you will operate at the intersection of enterprise architecture strategy and deep infrastructure delivery, owning our most complex architectural challenges—including hybrid cloud connectivity, platform-wide automation frameworks, landing zone evolution, and cross-domain integration patterns—while remaining deeply embedded in code and delivery. This is a senior technical leadership position for an elite cloud engineer who sets technical direction, defines enterprise standards, and acts as the ultimate escalation point to unblock engineering teams. You will author advanced Terraform modules, architect scalable multi-cloud topologies across AWS and Azure, drive adoption of modern platform engineering practices, and collaborate closely with security, networking, and enterprise architecture stakeholders. If you possess deep multi-cloud mastery and a passion for automation at scale, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities Architecture Strategy & Technical Direction
Hybrid Cloud Evolution:
Own and evolve the hybrid cloud platform architecture across AWS, Azure, and Azure Local, ensuring enterprise-wide coherence, high scalability, and robust security. Landing Zone & Topology Design:
Architect enterprise landing zones, account/subscription topologies, network segmentation models, and identity federation strategies (CAF / Control Tower). Advanced Networking:
Design complex hybrid networking solutions including virtual WANs (vWAN), ExpressRoute, Transit Gateways, network virtual appliances, and secure cross-cloud connectivity. Governance & Standards:
Establish Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), non-functional requirement frameworks, and compliance-as-code policies across the hybrid estate. Hands-On Delivery (IaC & Platform Engineering) Terraform Module Libraries:
Author, maintain, and govern enterprise-grade Terraform module libraries, defining reusable patterns, strict versioning strategies, and built-in security defaults. CI/CD & Pipeline Design:
Design and implement advanced CI/CD pipeline architectures in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for multi-environment, multi-subscription infrastructure delivery. Automation & Resilience:
Build complex automation frameworks, including policy-as-code enforcement, automated drift detection, and self-healing infrastructure patterns. Container & Security Architecture:
Deploy and manage production-grade Kubernetes platforms (AKS/EKS) with secure service meshes, RBAC, and micro-segmentation; resolve complex cross-account/subscription orchestration challenges. Technical Leadership & Force Multiplication Escalation & Mentorship:
Serve as the primary senior technical escalation point to unblock engineering teams; mentor senior cloud architects and platform engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical coaching. Cross-Functional Influence:
Partner with enterprise architecture, security, and business leadership to shape platform standards, cloud cost optimization (FinOps), and disaster recovery strategies. Emerging Tech Integration:
Evaluate emerging cloud services, AI/ML platform infrastructure (GPU scheduling, MLOps pipelines), and autonomous infrastructure tools to drive continuous platform innovation. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical work experience.
•
Experience Baseline:
oMinimum of 8+ years of hands-on professional experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or enterprise cloud architecture. oMinimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience writing Terraform at scale (enterprise module libraries, multi-environment state management, provider configuration). oMinimum of 4+ years of experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipeline architectures for infrastructure delivery. oMinimum of 3+ years in a technical leadership or architecture role guiding teams and setting enterprise standards.
Technical Mastery:
oDemonstrated experience architecting solutions across both AWS and Azure in a multi-cloud production environment. oProven track record resolving complex, cross-domain infrastructure challenges combining networking, security, compute, and automation. oDeep working knowledge of zero-trust security architecture, identity federation, and secret management. Core Competencies:
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into executive recommendations and write detailed technical RFCs. Preferred Attributes - Professional certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
- Specialized expertise in hybrid networking routing protocols (BGP, SD-WAN, Palo Alto NVAs).
- Experience implementing platform engineering practices, internal developer portals, and self-service golden paths.
